One of the more painful conditions associated with the digestive tract is stomach ulcers, also called peptic ulcers. A peptic ulcer is a spot where the stomach lining or small intestine and the underlying tissues become eroded or damaged, leaving what amounts to a open wound. Such a wound can very often be through the lining and into the stomach muscle. If not into the muscle, these ulcers can be relatively easy to heal. But depending on the cause, they will often reoccur without a change of lifestyle and diet.
The prevailing belief in the past was that most stomach ulcers were caused by excess stomach acid caused by stress and anxiety. They therefore tried to treat the ulcers with drugs that were intended to relieve stress and anxiety. These drugs needless to say were usually unsuccessful because of that false premise of the cause. Few if any healthcare professionals, whether mainstream or alternative, still believe ulcers are caused by stress. It is pretty much a consensus that the overwhelming majority of stomach ulcers are caused by an infection of Helicobacter pylori (H-pylori) bacteria in a wound that may itself have been caused by another factor. The initial damage to the stomach lining in which the H-pylori infection develops can be caused by alcohol, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin, and corticosteroids.
The biggest culprit of all may be grain/gluten allergies, which could be the initial component of stomach damage resulting in H-pylori infections. Gluten proteins found in wheat and other grains are a component in most processed foods. They are known to cause small lesion or damage spots to the skin. The manifestation of these in the stomach, esophagus, or gut may provide the compromised tissue in which H-pylori can develop.
There is likely a correlation between stomach acid and additional pain caused when the ulcer is washed in the Hydrochloric acid (HCL) of the stomach. But that is like saying that because more pain results from salt being poured on a wound that the salt is a cause of the wound. Deadening the senses with drugs to cure stress and anxiety is another mainstream medicine/psychiatry false premise. Stress and anxiety have always been a part of life and no one is exempt from experiencing it. The biggest problem comes in one’s ability to deal with stress and anxiety in a constructive and healthy manner. That is most often caused by a deficiency and imbalance of minerals (especially magnesium) resulting in the inability to relax and even focus on solving life’s everyday issues. Correct the mineral deficiencies and imbalances and you increase the ability of your mind and body to handle stressful situations. Now back to stomach ulcers.
Although the supplement suggestions below can heal ulcers, if your eating and drinking habits don’t change, it may only be a temporary fix. The first thing to do is to stop consuming drinks that might not allow the ulcer to heal. The biggest culprit is alcohol, the consumption of which must be stopped until the ulcer is healed, otherwise it probably will not heal completely. Ulcers more often occur in people who tend to engage in the consumption of alcohol on a regular basis. Research indicates that the regular consumption of anything more than one alcoholic drink of any kind at one sitting greatly increases the formation of ulcers in those who are prone to develop ulcers. In those people even an occasional heavy drinking episode can trigger ulcers. This may be related to the fact that alcohol itself is a form of sugar which may provide a fertile environment for the formation of H. pylori bacterial infections. Alcohol also causes red blood cells to clump and then clog capillaries and blood vessels that can sometimes rupture in the stomach causing a small ‘wound’ that then may be the catalyst for an ulcer. Such alcohol caused ruptures can lead to hemorrhage and even death through blood loss.
Excessive consumption of coffee may also be a culprit in inhibiting the healing of ulcers. So if you have an ulcer, lay off the coffee until it is healed. It may even be necessary for you to permanently limit your coffee intake to no more than one cup a day.
Another contributing factor in ulcer formation and in limiting the healing of ulcers, is smoking. Smokers are twice as likely to develop diseases of all kinds, including ulcers of all kinds. In the case of stomach ulcers, smoking interferes with the body’s natural stomach production of digestive acids. Evidence suggests that smoking triggers excess stomach acid production when the acid is not actually needed for digestion. At the same time smoking reduces the natural bicarbonate production, which is essential to provide balance to excess stomach acid production. Smokers not only have a greater incidence of peptic ulcers, but are particularly at risk of developing duodenal and esophageal ulcers also.
Genetics have also been blamed for the formation of ulcers, but as with most diseases, genetics is probably not the root cause this illness. But there may be a contributing genetic predisposition to getting ulcers. If your parents or grandparents have had ulcers, then that may be a good indication that you need to be especially careful with your eating and drinking habits.
Should one ever have an ‘ulcer attack’ consisting of severe stomach pain or cramping and a black or red stool accompanied by acute tiredness or feeling faint, get to a hospital immediately! You may actually need a blood transfusion. Please note that a red stool with these symptoms is even more alarming as it indicates that the blood loss is so rapid that it has no time to darken in the digestive tract. Black stool or red, these three symptoms are an indication of substantial blood loss which can result in hypovolemia (blood loss shock). Hypovolemia is a condition of a decrease in the volume of blood plasma and can result in death.
The following healing protocol suggestion is not intended as a substitute for emergency treatment in the event you have the symptoms described in the previous paragraph.
Aloe Vera juice/gel. Drink 2-4 oz., 3-4 times a day. This plant is known to be one of the more potent natural plants for the healing of stomach lining tissue. (Use only organic Aloe Vera; the last thing you want to do is to put pesticides onto already inflamed and damaged tissue.)
DMSO ( Dimethyl Sulfoxide). Add 2-3 ml (approx. 1/3-1/2 teaspoon) to each serving of Aloe Vera juice/gel. DMSO relieves pain, increases circulation; repairs damaged tissue, and enhances cellular hydration.
Colloidal Silver. Take 8-15 ml (1/4-1/2 oz.) of silver on an empty stomach or mixed with the aloe vera whichever is most convenient. Silver may be the best anti-bacterial product for reducing the H. pylori bacteria so that the ulcer can heal.
IntraMax or Liquid Life Complete. Use 1 oz., 2-3 times per day. This will provide the mineral and vitamin nutrition for the regeneration of tissue and formation of new blood.
Zinc Balance. w/ copper. Essential minerals in the healing of tissue.
Vitamin C. Essential vitamin that promotes wound healing and provides protection against infection.
Vitamin B Complex. Essential vitamins needed for proper digestion.
Iron. Essential mineral for the prevention of anemia, which often occurs with bleeding ulcers.
Acidophilus. Provides flora for the small intestine to improve the assimilation of nutrients.
Enzymes. Molecules that aid in the breakdown and digestion of foods and nutrients.
Essential Fatty Acids and other good fats of various kinds such as organic butter, raw milk, saturated fats, and coconut oil. These fats give added protection of the stomach and intestinal tract from ulcers.
Additional supplement suggestions that may be of benefit.
Chlorella. This is another good source of minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients to promote healing. It will also act to counter the body odor that can result from the temporary consumption of DMSO.
Pyloricil. A product that aids in eliminating and controlling H-pylori bacteria.
You may be able to heal your stomach ulcer with only the use of Aloe Vera, DMSO and Colloidal Silver, but most of these supplements listed may be necessary to prevent the future reoccurrence of ulcers. Until your ulcer is well on the way to healing, it is best to eat at least two hours before going to bed to reduce night time discomfort.
