Mistletoe Cures Cancer of Woman in England

(NaturalNews) It was the season to be jolly for 53 year old Joan van Holsteijn of England. Her 2009 Christmas gift was the final cure of her cancer by Mistletoe! Actually, she was treated with an extract of mistletoe, a natural medicine first developed in 1922 for cancer by Rudolf Steiner in Europe. It is rarely used by itself today. Instead, it`s sometimes used as an adjunct to the more toxic forms of cancer treatments, especially chemotherapy.

When the painful large lump on her leg was diagnosed as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in a British clinic, Joan was advised to receive chemotherapy. She confided, "I was very scared. I was scared of the cancer, and scared of chemo because you can become so ill from it." Her specialist told her that the mistletoe extract could be administered after chemotherapy sessions.

But Joan opted for the mistletoe extract as the first and only treatment. "It [chemotherapy] runs down your immune system to the point where you don`t feel well. Even if you get better from the cancer you still have to deal with the treatments," she added.

About Mistletoe for Cancer

According to Wikipedia, Suzanne Somers, author of Knockout, also chose a mistletoe extract instead of chemotherapy for her breast cancer tumors. Surgery and radiation had not succeeded with ridding Suzanne of cancer, and her doctor's orders were for her to undergo chemotherapy. And just like Joan of England, Suzanne of Hollywood shunned chemotherapy to have mistletoe extract cure her.

As The Cancer Cure Website explains: "Mistletoe extracts are marketed under several trade names …, most of which are available in Europe. … these extracts must be prescribed by a physician. However, most doctors in the US do not use it … [though] it is allowed by compassionate use. Physicians … can order [mistletoe extracts] directly from European manufacturers."

Mistletoe extracts are usually injected, but they can also be taken orally if appropriate. It`s important to realize the extract is used because the leaves and berries of mistletoe are poisonous. The extract contains several cytotoxins (cell toxins) which induce tumor necrosis (tissue death) in the cancer cells while programming apoptosis (cancer cell suicide).

Mistletoe extracts stimulate the immune system and increase natural killer cell activity. Chemotherapy dampens the immune system while killing healthy cells along with the cancer cells. Ironically, mistletoe extracts are sometimes used with chemotherapy to protect the DNA of healthy cells.

Negative side effects are very rare, and when they do occur they are usually minor allergic reactions. However, people with heart problems or who are on MAO inhibitor antidepressants are at risk for serious reactions with mistletoe extracts.

Small Community Cancer Cure Crushed by Big Pharma, Part I

(NaturalNews) A small Canadian community's success with curing cancer naturally was recently crushed, forcing its provider into exile in Europe. Rick Simpson had discovered a cure for himself and then had shared it at no cost with others in the small rural town of Maccan, Nova Scotia.

Rick offered results without side effects, and the Maccan residents took advantage. The results were amazing with even cancer patients. There are always problems promoting alternative cures. But here was an additional obstacle. The cure was hemp oil with the illegal substance THC.

Rick`s Reasons

Rick Simpson experienced a head injury at work in 1997. Afterward he was afflicted with post concussion syndrome. He was put on pharmaceuticals, which created dysfunctional side effects. He heard about the medical benefits of marijuana. So Rick purchased a bag and began smoking daily.

Eventually, both the post concussion syndrome and the pharmaceutical drug fog vanished completely. Rick's doctor discouraged him from smoking. So Rick decided on growing his own hemp and extracting the oil with THC. He reduced a pound of plants by slow boiling in a solution to get a small tube of thick THC concentrated oil.

Soon after he began, Rick was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. After one of the three cancers was removed surgically, it came back. So he decided to try the THC laden hemp oil topically. Within days, all three skin cancers were completely healed. Rick deduced that THC hemp oil cured cancer, but smoking marijuana would not.

Helping Others

So Rick began sharing the hemp oil within his community for free. Everyone experienced remarkable improvement by taking a drop orally twice daily or applying it topically. Rick Dwyer, the manager of the local Royal American Legion branch was very impressed. His father's terminal lung cancer was cured in weeks after the medicos had sent him home to die.

Quickly the word was out locally about Thompson`s THC hemp oil. Several others were cured without side effects from a variety of serious ailments, including cancer.

Then both Ricks decided there should be town meetings in the Legion hall about the THC hemp oil, and that they would see what to do about spreading the word. They wanted the world to know about this natural cure.

So Rick Simpson went to Halifax, Nova Scotia, to acquire legal exemption for using his oil as medical marijuana. He took 14 dozen sworn affidavits from those he had helped in Maccan. But they were disregarded and his request was turned down. Nine months later he appealed to the Nova Scotia Supreme Court.

This time, Rick had ten cured citizens and six doctors present to testify. Their testimonies were not even allowed. His appeal was rejected, and his little local operation of supplying free cannabis cures was threatened. Slowly it dawned on him that it wasn't just the legal system that prevented natural cannabis cures.

Rick Simpson realized that the cancer industry is focused on treating, not curing, for high profits. Monopoly medicine and Big Pharma's concern for maintaining a massive cash flow have been the prime motive for keeping all natural cures down.

Vitamin K2 Helps Prevent Heart Disease and Osteoporosis

What is Vitamin K?

Losing Weight Cures Sleep Apnea, Scientists Discover

(NaturalNews) A recent study conducted by scientists at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden have found that simple weight loss is an effective treatment for sleep apnea in obese men. Published in the British Medical Journal, the study revealed a 50-percent reduction in sleep apnea cases following a rigorous weight-loss regimen where each participant lost an average of nearly 42 pounds throughout the course of the study.

A common disease in overweight people, particularly in men, sleep apnea is a disorder where breathing is interrupted during one's sleep due to a blocked or collapsed airway. Most people with sleep apnea must sleep with a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine in order to insure healthy breathing and to alleviate associated symptoms.

Rather than have to use a machine, however, scientists have found that the best way to eliminate sleep apnea is by losing weight. Nearly 20 percent of study participants who lost significant amounts of weight were declared to be completely cured from sleep apnea. Participants with the most severe cases of sleep apnea benefitted the most from the weight loss program and they experienced the greatest results.

Significant weight loss was achieved by placing participants on a very low calorie diet (VLCD) which was composed of a low-calorie food powder. When mixed with water, the powder was used as a meal replacement for every meal of the day, resulting in rapid weight loss. Following the study, participants were invited to participate in a behavioral change program designed to help them maintain a healthy weight.

Obesity Will Cost U.S. $344 Billion a Year in Health Care Costs

(NaturalNews) An analysis of projected health care costs has revealed that by the year 2018, obesity-related medical expenses will top $344 billion. Current estimates suggest that in just ten years 43 percent of Americans will be obese if obesity continues to rise at the current rate.

According to Reed Tuckson of the United Health Foundation, an average healthy adult in 2018 will incur about $5,855 in medical expenses a year. An obese person will sustain about 42 more in medical expenses in the same year. If obesity rates continue to rise at the current rate, Colorado could be the only state in 2018 with at least 70 percent of its residents at a healthy weight.

Tuckson emphasized that most of the obesity-related diseases that are set to flood the health care system are preventable. He hopes that the report will spur action in dealing with the risk factors that contribute to obesity. By implementing preventive measures, the financial burden caused by treating obesity-related diseases will be greatly reduced.

Though smoking remains the number one preventable cause of death in the United States, obesity and diseases like heart and kidney failure that result from it hold a close second in the health care cost equation. In 1998, medical spending on obese people was half of what it is today. It could more than double in the next decade, accounting for more than 20 percent of overall medical expenses.

Of the three primary diseases related to both smoking and obesity – diabetes, heart disease, and cancer – $1.8 trillion a year is spent treating them. Eric Finkelstein, co-author of The Fattening of America stated that unless a serious effort is made by Americans to shape up and improve their diets, costs will continue to skyrocket.

Part of the problem with obesity is the American industrial food system that composes what is popularly termed the "Western" diet. Rich in bad fats, refined sugars, and oftentimes genetically-modified ingredients, the components of the Western diet are the primary triggers in obesity. Quantity plays a part as well, but the substance is most likely the primary contributor.

Meat eaters would do best to purchase only pastured, grass-fed meats that are low in bad fat and high in omega-3s, healthy fats, and other nutrients. Organic fruits and vegetables will also help to regulate proper weight. Healthy oils like olive and coconut will go far in regulating metabolism. Avoidance of refined flours and grains, sugars, GMOs, and other processed food ingredients is also necessary to maintaining a healthy weight.

MSG – A Pervasive Neurotoxin

This column’s initial focus was on basic naturopathic health principles, encouraging people to incorporate lifestyle changes that include cooking from scratch, eating and growing their own organic food, using herbs, and detoxification protocols. Many readers have asked if we have done a column on MSG. Although I hadn’t done one, it was always on the backburner. Now that so many children and adults have been hoodwinked into squirting the MSG-containing H1N1 nasal spray up their nose and our food supply is literally laced with it even when items are purchased from the health food store, I can no longer postpone sharing with our readers what science has known all along about this toxic substance.

One of the primary additives used in food products is monosodium glutamate (MSG), a chemical added to enhance flavor. This substance occurs naturally in seaweed and has been used in oriental countries for thousands of years safely since the body is usually able to process this natural form of glutamate. However, in the 1940s, MSG was commercially produced by isolating a part of naturally occurring glutamates as free glutamic acid. It is called “free” because it is not stabilized by a protein as it is in most foods. It is this form of free glutamate that causes so many adverse reactions. Commercial MSG is comprised of processed free glutamic acid, sodium, moisture and about one percent contaminants. It was introduced into commercial food products in 1948 and has been widely used as a flavor enhancer ever since.
MSG is an excitotoxin

MSG is in a class of chemicals often referred to as excitotoxins. These chemicals excite neurons (nerve cells) throughout the body, literally exciting them to death. At lower concentrations, the neurons themselves do not die but rather the connections between them, called synapses, shrivel and die. Other pervasive excitotoxins are aspartame, mercury, aluminum, L-cystein and sodium fluoride (added to municipal water and toothpaste.) Retired neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock, MD (author of Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills), stated the following:

“It is a rule of neurology that a disorder caused by the destruction of a particular area of the brain… will produce no clincal signs until 70 to 80 percent of the brain area is destroyed.” Blaylock claims there is growing evidence that excitotoxins are a major cause of degenerative brain diseases in adults including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, ALS and MS diseases. He has also stated that once ingested (or injected) excitotoxins interact with one another and increase the toxicity of each chemical a hundred-fold.
John Erb

The man responsible for bringing to the public’s attention the devastating effects of MSG is John Erb, author of The Slow Poisoning of America. After writing his book, he submitted a 24-page report to the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives in August 2006, “The Slow Poisoning of Mankind – A Report on the Toxic Effects of the Food Additive Monosodium Glutamate.” In this well-cited document, Erb states:

“The Codex Alimentarius lists Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) as a flavor enhancer with no daily limit to be added to a broad range of food categories. MSG is an amino acid that affects almost every major system and organ in the body. Glutamate receptors trigger many different responses and can be over stimulated to cause cell death and other systemic problems. For thirty years, scientists and researchers have used MSG in their experiments to purposely create obese and pre-diabetic test subjects, trigger epileptic seizures, create ischemic stroles, and destroy cell tissues in vivo and in vitro. The amount of studies that use MSG to cause negative effects in test subjects numbers over one thousand, published in a variety of medical and scientific journals in over a dozen different countries.

“There is mounting evidence that not only the rise in human obesity and diabetes is linked to the ingestion of Monosodium Glutamate, but the increase in Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder as well.

“In light of the overwhelming evidence showing the detrimental effects of the food additive MSG, it is requested that the FAO/WHO’s Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) remove monosodium glutamate (and ingredients that contain MSG) from the allowable additives list of the Codex Alimentarius, and have it banned from vaccines as well….

“Because food manufacturers do not have to list the amount of MSG on their packaging, there is no way of knowing how much a normal child or adult would ingest in a day’s period. According to industry research 0.6% added to food is optimal for making people eat progressively more and faster… If this is the case, as much as .6% of a person’s daily diet could be made up of MSG. In a daily intake of 2 kgs of laced food the adult or child would receive a 12 gram dose of monosodium glutamate. A 12 gram dosage of MSG is lethal to a one kg rat.

“Though previous JECFA reports have disallowed MSG in foods for infants or those under one year of age, many infants and children receive doses of MSG in a variety of vaccinations. [See Appendix C.]

“MSG is now being sprayed on crops and can become airborne. Though the Codex Alimentarius specifically disallows MSG addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, Auxigro, with 30% MSG content, has been approved by some countries to be sprayed on crops of fresh fruits and vegetables. Airborne effects of MSG sprays have not been studied by the JECFA.”

The rest of Erb’s report cites several shocking medical journal articles, one dating back to 1975, proving just how toxic this additive is, especially to the developing fetus and newborn. Appendix B of Erb’s report is a complete list of common food ingredients that contain MSG, proving how manufacturers hide the presence of MSG. Also included is part of his Appendix C that lists vaccines containing MSG that are administered to children and adults in the U.S.

John Erb also petitioned the FDA to revoke the GRAS (Generally recognized as safe) status of MSG on December 17, 2007 with a similar document. There were several letters of support submitted to the FDA for Docket ID: FDA-2007-P-0178 . To date, the FDA has taken no action on Erb’s life saving petition.
Appendix B – List of Ingredients Involving MSG

These contain Monosodium Glutamate:
Glutamate, monosodium glutamate, monopotassium glutamate, glutamic acid, gelatin, calcium caseinate, textured protein, sodium caseinate, yeast nutrient, yeast extract, yeast food, autolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed protein (any protein that is hydrolyzed), hydrolyzed corn gluten, natrium glutamate (natrium is Latin/German for sodium).

An ever-present problem

From hospitals to school cafeterias to nursing homes, MSG is added to mass produced food to increase its palatability. MSG awareness activists call it nicotine for food. Young women today are being exposed to a major toxin causing irreparable damage to their child even before they discover they are pregnant.

Shocked by his discovery, John Erb met with Dr. Thomas Ward, Nova Scotia’s Deputy Minister of Health, a pediatrician who specialized in Neonatology. When Erb explained to Dr. Ward about the dangers of MSG, Dr. Ward replied, “I know how awful the stuff is, I would never touch it.” When Erb pressed the Deputy Health Minister to remove it from all food products, Dr. Ward said that it was an issue for the federal government, and suggested that Erb take his book, The Slow Poisoning of America, to the federal government and “Hit them over the head with it.”

John Erb took his discovery to Dr. Susan Bryson, head of the Autism Research Center in Halifax, and one of the leading Autism scientists in Canada. She was amazed by his findings, and confirmed that current studies being done by the National Institute of Health (NIH) show that the cause of Autism has been linked to a toxin invading the embryo’s brain stem at as early as twenty days after conception. While the NIH had not yet identified the toxin, they just might figure out where to focus their research if they were to pay attention to the thousands of studies performed on rodents using MSG.

“The sooner people know that MSG can cause ADHD and Autism in their unborn children, the sooner they can take steps to avoid being another victim of the steadily increasing numbers of these disorders,” John Erb states. Autism, unheard of before 1950, has now risen to epidemic proportions with one in every 67 children diagnosed with the affliction.

MSG has been hidden in food ingredient lists as hydrolyzed vegetable protein, autolyzed yeast extract, soy protein isolate, and many other names. Every year, the amount of this substance hidden in foods rises astronomically. Just because the name MSG does not appear on the label does not mean that the food does not contain the excitotoxin glutamate.

“People should demand that the food industry, both restaurants and food manufacturers, remove the added glutamate in all its forms from anything we ingest,” John Erb states emphatically. “The fact that they add it to make us addicted to their food is appalling enough, but considering it is doing terrible damage to our children, for that there is no excuse. The sooner these corporations are held accountable for poisoning us, the sooner we can eradicate ADHD and Autism from the maternity wards across the nation.”

And MSG is just one of the excitotoxins our children are consuming daily. Drug Company Chief: Our Drugs Do Not Work on Most Patients

A senior executive with Britain's biggest drugs company has admitted that most prescription medicines do not work on most people who take them.

Allen Roses, worldwide vice-president of genetics at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), said fewer than half of the patients prescribed some of the most expensive drugs actually derived any benefit from them.

It is an open secret within the drugs industry that most of its products are ineffective in most patients but this is the first time that such a senior drugs boss has gone public. His comments come days after it emerged that the NHS drugs bill has soared by nearly 50 per cent in three years, rising by £2.3bn a year to an annual cost to the taxpayer of £7.2bn. GSK announced last week that it had 20 or more new drugs under development that could each earn the company up to $1bn (£600m) a year.

Dr Roses, an academic geneticist from Duke University in North Carolina, spoke at a recent scientific meeting in London where he cited figures on how well different classes of drugs work in real patients. Drugs for Alzheimer's disease work in fewer than one in three patients, whereas those for cancer are only effective in a quarter of patients. Drugs for migraines, for osteoporosis, and arthritis work in about half the patients, Dr Roses said. Most drugs work in fewer than one in two patients mainly because the recipients carry genes that interfere in some way with the medicine, he said.

"The vast majority of drugs – more than 90 per cent – only work in 30 or 50 per cent of the people," Dr Roses said. "I wouldn't say that most drugs don't work. I would say that most drugs work in 30 to 50 per cent of people. Drugs out there on the market work, but they don't work in everybody."

Some industry analysts said Dr Roses's comments were reminiscent of the 1991 gaffe by Gerald Ratner, the jewelry boss, who famously said that his high street shops are successful because they sold "total crap". But others believe Dr Roses deserves credit for being honest about a little-publicized fact known to the drugs industry for many years.

"Roses is a smart guy and what he is saying will surprise the public but not his colleagues," said one industry scientist. "He is a pioneer of a new culture within the drugs business based on using genes to test for who can benefit from a particular drug."

Dr Roses has a formidable reputation in the field of "pharmacogenomics" – the application of human genetics to drug development – and his comments can be seen as an attempt to make the industry realize that its future rests on being able to target drugs to a smaller number of patients with specific genes.

The idea is to identify "responders" – people who benefit from the drug – with a simple and cheap genetic test that can be used to eliminate those non-responders who might benefit from another drug.

This goes against a marketing culture within the industry that has relied on selling as many drugs as possible to the widest number of patients – a culture that has made GSK one of the most profitable pharmaceuticals companies, but which has also meant that most of its drugs are at best useless, and even possibly dangerous, for many patients.

Dr Roses said doctors treating patients routinely applied the trial-and-error approach which says that if one drug does not work there is always another one. "I think everybody has it in their experience that multiple drugs have been used for their headache or multiple drugs have been used for their backache or whatever.

"It's in their experience, but they don't quite understand why. The reason why is because they have different susceptibilities to the effect of that drug and that's genetic," he said.

"Neither those who pay for medical care nor patients want drugs to be prescribed that do not benefit the recipient. Pharmacogenetics has the promise of removing much of the uncertainty."
