Hospital Tries To Silence Whistleblowers

by: David Gutierrez

(NaturalNews) A hospital trust where conditions were so bad that more than 1,000 patients may have died due to negligence actively tried to stop employees from raising concerns about patient safety, according to an inquiry conducted by the British Health Department.

Advanced Colloidal Silver

"Staff have known about the problems on the wards for many years, but there has been no means by which they can bring them up," said a health official close to the inquiry. "Those who have tried to do so have been shot down. Some have been ordered to withdraw or hide their allegations."

One egregious case occurred following the death of John Moore-Robinson, a 20-year-old who was admitted to the hospital following a mountain bike accident in April 2006. He was discharged with painkillers and died less than 24 hours later from a ruptured spleen that health workers had failed to detect.

In his report on the incident, consultant Ivan Phair concluded that, "The premature death of Mr. Moore-Robinson in my opinion was an avoidable situation. I feel that an independent expert would criticize the management afforded to him by the staff. There is a high probability that the level of care delivered to Mr. Moore-Robinson was negligent."

The hospital's head of services, Kate Levy, then wrote to Phair asking him to remove these comments from his report in order to avoid "further distress to the family and adverse publicity." Phair's report was not included in data presented to the inquest following the death.

Another consultant, Pradip Singh, told the inquiry that he and several coworkers had complained to superiors about staff cuts and the ensuing reduction in standards of care. They were either ignored or ostracized as troublemakers.

According to Singh, the hospital suffers from a "palpable culture of intimidation." Data submitted to the inquiry note that the hospital's written policy on whistleblowers actively discourages employees from raising concerns.

Use Home Remedies to Quickly and Safely Eliminate Athlete’s Foot

by: Tony Isaacs

(SilverBulletin) Athlete's foot is an infection of the feet caused by a fungus. The affected area is usually red and itchy and the most common symptom is cracked, flaking, peeling skin between the toes. Left untreated, the condition may last for a short or long time and may return again and again. However, there are several effective home and natural remedies that can quickly clear up athlete's foot and prevent it from returning.

Advanced Colloidal Silver

One sure-fire home remedy is to use a combination of apple cider vinegar, water, colloidal silver and moisturizer. Soak your feet in one part white vinegar and four parts water for 20-30 minutes. Dry your feet and apply colloidal silver over the entire foot, being sure to get in between the toes. Allow to air dry thoroughly and then apply a good moisturizer, such as the oil found in crushed garlic from the grocery store. Other good choices are tea tree oil, sesame oil and olive oil.

The combination of vinegar and colloidal silver kills the athlete's foot fungus and the moisturizer helps the skin heal. Repeat the procedure twice daily and your athlete's foot should be gone in a matter of days. To prevent future outbreaks of athlete's foot, repeat the above remedy once each week. Note: colloidal silver is optional, but it helps speed the remedy and makes it more effective.

Other common remedies are:

* Apply hydrogen peroxide with a cotton swab – especially just after a bath, shower or foot soak. Allow to dry. If you wish, you may follow with an application of apple cider vinegar and then, after your feet have dried, apply one of the moisturizers mentioned above. Repeat twice daily until all signs of athlete's foot are gone.

* Pour baking soda on the affected feet and between the toes after showers, bathing or foot soaks to help dry the area and eliminate dampness. Powder the area daily until the infection is gone and continue doing so for at least a month.

* After thoroughly washing the feet, dry the feet well with a hair dryer on the high heat setting. Be sure to dry the areas between the toes thoroughly and get as close to the feet as you can without burning. If you dress afterward, use clean dry socks (preferably cotton socks). Do this morning and evening. If you regularly blow dry your feet, you should never have athlete's foot again.

* A wonderful old time remedy is known as "Grandma's Gallberry Root Remedy" – Boil some gallberry roots and soak your feet in the solution after it has cooled enough to prevent scalding. Repeat every day for one week.

* Rub tea tree oil on feet twice a day. Tea tree oil kills the fungus that causes athlete's feet. Similarly, sesame oil rubbed over the infected area once or twice a day has been reported to eliminate athlete's foot within a few days.

* Regular tea has been used effectively against athlete's foot. Use a quart of boiling water, add six tea bags and soak your feet in it for 30 to 60 minutes. The tannic acid in tea kills the fungus and soothes the pain and itchy feeling on the skin.

Notes: Be sure to wash all your white socks in water containing bleach. Then wash your other socks and wash or clean your shoes regularly and allow them to dry thoroughly.

Avoid using anti-bacterial soap, which may actually increase the chance of getting athlete's foot by killing the good bacteria and by allowing bad bacteria to take over and to accumulate and grow in the shower.

Ron Paul Introduces Two New Bills To Repeal ObamaCare

Dear Friend of Liberty,

Unlike the statists in Washington, the freedom movement understands that our health care is too important to be left to the whims of politicians and bureaucrats.
More Americans are realizing that the Obama administration’s version of “change” means giving the federal government’s corporatist allies even greater power, like rewarding insurance companies with millions of customers who will be forced to buy their product.

Legitimate reform starts with the principles found in two new bills introduced by Ron Paul.

H.R. 4995, the End the Mandate Act, repeals the recently-passed federal mandate requiring Americans to carry government-approved health insurance.

And just this past Thursday, Congressman Paul introduced H.R. 5444, the “Private Option Health Care Act,” which would completely repeal ObamaCare and replace it with free market solutions.

In sharp contrast to mandates and force, H.R. 5444 would:

    * Provide all Americans with a tax credit for 100% of health care expenses. The tax credit is fully refundable against both income and payroll taxes;
    * Allow individuals to roll over unused amounts in cafeteria plans and Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA);
    * Provide a tax credit for premiums for high-deductible insurance policies connected with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and allow seniors to use funds in HSAs to pay for medigap policies;
    * Repeal the 7.5% threshold for the deduction of medical expenses, thus making all medical expenses tax deductible;
    * Guarantee individuals can purchase health insurance across state lines;
    * Permit a tax credit for negative outcomes insurance purchased before medical treatment, reducing expensive malpractice suits;
    * Reduce barriers to importing FDA-approved prescription drugs.

New Study Finds Pesticides Double Risk of ADHD in Our Children

by: Tony Isaacs

(NaturalNews) For years environmentalists and natural health advocates have been trying to point out that organophosphate pesticides (malathion, etc.) work by disrupting the neurological systems of insects, and therefore humans who consume them on foods are at risk of neurological problems. Now, after millions of kids have been diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactive disorder), it is finally being admitted.

In a new study just published in Pediatrics, researchers from the University of Montreal and Harvard University found evidence strongly indicating that pesticides could be a major cause of the alarming rise in ADHD in our children. Children who had higher than average biomarkers for organophosphate pesticides were nearly twice as likely to be diagnosed with ADHD. Previous studies found that pesticides may contribute to hyperactivity and cognitive problems in animals, but the new study is among the first to determine that it affects humans, too.

Among the study's findings:

* Children who have high levels of pesticide residues are 93% more likely to have ADHD.
and
* For every 55% increase in residue in urine, there is a 10% greater risk of ADHD.

"I think it's fairly significant. A doubling is a strong effect," said Maryse F. Bouchard, a researcher at the University of Montreal in Quebec and lead author of the study.

The study is the largest thus far to examine the effect of pesticides on child development and behavior, including ADHD. ADHD affects an estimated 4.5 million U.S. children. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 2.5 million kids take medication for the condition.

In the study, Bouchard and her colleagues measured levels of six pesticide metabolites in the urine of 1,139 children ages 8 to 15. The children were selected from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 2000 and 2004 and included 119 children who were diagnosed with ADHD.

Unlike other studies on the impact of pesticides, the new study provided a look into average insecticide exposure in the general child population instead of a specialized group (such as the children of farm workers). Organophosphates are commonly used on some of the crops children consume the most, such as frozen blueberries, fresh strawberries and celery. However, since some of the children who participated in the study were from urban areas, the results suggest that pesticide exposure comes from the air we breathe, as well as on the foods we eat. Bouchard said that because many pesticides leave the body after three to six days, the presence of residue shows that exposure is likely constant.

Cheminova, the Danish firm that is the world's largest manufacturer of malathion, declined to comment on the conclusions of the new study. Diane Allemang, vice president for global regulatory affairs, reported that she had not yet seen the study.

Bouchard's advice for parents: "I would say buy organic as much as possible. I would also recommend washing fruits and vegetables as much as possible."

The consumer advocacy organization Environmental Working Group echoes Bouchard's advice, advising shoppers to buy organic versions of a dozen fruits and vegetables that grow in the ground or are commonly eaten with the skin, because they're most likely to be contaminated.

When washing fruits and vegetables, be sure to wash and rinse them in cold tap water and scrub firm-skinned produce with a brush. Some people opt for the addition of hydrogen peroxide to their fruit and vegetable rinses for maximum removal of pesticides. Frozen fruits and vegetables should also be washed.

Don't wash produce with soap, though. Soap can leave behind detergent residues and more chemicals that everyone would do best to avoid.

Letting Babies Swim in Chlorinated Pools Harms Their Health For Life

by: David Gutierrez

(NaturalNews) Young children who swim in chlorinated pools may suffer an increased risk of lung infections and even lifelong asthma and respiratory allergies, according to a study conducted by researchers from Catholic University Louvain in Brussels, Belgium, and published in the European Respiratory Journal.

Liver Cleanse
EDTA

"This suggests that chlorinated pool attendance can increase the risk of asthma and respiratory allergies by making the airways more sensitive not only to allergens but also to infectious agents," senior researcher Alfred Bernard said.

Researchers conducted health tests on 430 Belgian kindergarteners and had their parents fill out questionnaires about their health history and swimming habits. They found that while 36 percent of children who had been exposed to chlorinated pools before the age of two had a history of the lung infection known as bronchiolitis, compared with only 24 percent of children who had not been exposed.

Bronchiolitis is a usually viral infection of the small airways of the lungs. Researchers believe that chlorine in swimming pools may combine with sweat, saliva and urine from swimmers to produce chemicals that irritate and weaken the lungs. In the weaker, developing lungs of children, this can raise the risk of infection.

Supporting this hypothesis, researchers found that indoor pools increased infection risk more than outdoor pools. Children who had been to chlorinated outdoor pools for 20 or more hours by age two are twice as likely to suffer from bronchiolitis as children who had not been to chlorinated pools at all. Children who had been to indoor pools were 3.5 times as likely to have a history of the infection.

Researchers found that while neither swimming nor a history of bronchiolitis appeared to raise the risk of asthma or respiratory allergies by age five on their own, the combination of these factors led to a significantly higher risk.

Bernard noted that swimming is an "enjoyable" way to get kids exercise, but that chlorinated pools carry risks. He suggested that children use pools disinfected without chlorine whenever possible.

Safely Avoid and Remove Dangerous Man-Made Fluoride, Part II

by: Tony Isaacs

(NaturalNews) In the first part of this article, we looked at the dangers of man-made fluoride and some ways to avoid and minimize fluoride ingestion and exposure. Today we will take a look at some of the best and safest ways to remove fluoride from our bodies.

Liver Cleanse
Iodine
IP-6

Removing Fluoride from our Bodies:

The use of liver cleanses can be very effective in eliminating fluorides and other toxins. There are two basic types of liver cleanse protocols, both of which can be performed easily at home in one to two weeks. One protocol focuses primarily on the liver itself, while the second type of protocol also cleanses the gall bladder. The gall bladder is connected directly with liver function. Instructions for both kinds of liver cleansing, as well as liver cleanse products and kits, can be found online with simple searches.

Boron is a good fluoride remover and it has been proven effective in studies around the world. An easy and inexpensive source of boron can be found in common borax, which is available at most supermarkets. Borax has a history of anecdotal success for detoxing sodium fluoride.

Borax should be taken in very small quantities in pure water. As little as 1/32 to 1/4 of a teaspoon of borax in one liter of water consumed in small quantities throughout the day has been found to be safe and effective. About 1/8 of a teaspoon with a pinch of sea salt has been found to be particularly effective. Food grade sodium borate may be substituted for common borax.

Iodine has been clinically proven to increase the removal of fluoride from the body via the urine. Notably, most diets are deficient in this vital mineral. Seaweed foods and iodine supplements that combine iodine and potassium iodide are recommended most. Eliminating fluoride with iodine depletes calcium, thus it is recommended that one also take an effective calcium/magnesium supplement. Lecithin is recommended as an adjunct to using iodine.

The pulp, bark, and leaves from the tamarind tree can be used to make teas, extracts and tinctures that will help eliminate fluorides through the urine. Tamarind was originally indigenous to Africa but migrated into India and southeast Asia, and it has been used medicinally in Ayurvedic Medicine.

Fluoride stored in fatty tissues can be released and eliminated with the help of dry saunas. Since they can be strong enough to cause some side effects or an occasional healing crisis, it is advisable to keep water intake high and drink some chickweed tea to protect the kidneys. As is the case with iodine, it is also advisable to take a highly absorbable calcium/magnesium supplement and add lecithin.

Vitamin C in abundance is a great addition to any fluoride removal program. Natural sources of vitamin C are much better than ascorbic acid. Consume as much as you can tolerate along with a couple of tablespoons of lecithin daily.

Though it has not been proven conclusively, many believe that melatonin helps remove fluoride by increasing decalcification of the pineal gland. In addition to melatonin supplementation, plenty of daytime physical activity and/or exercise, a healthy diet, not overeating and meditation/relaxation exercises all contribute to higher melatonin production from the pineal gland.

Apple pectin is yet another effective item to use to eliminate fluoride. Other useful items include zeolite minerals, turmeric, cayenne, parsley, chlorella and cilantro.

Thus, even though dangerous man-made fluoride is exceedingly difficult to avoid entirely, by making the right choices and taking simple steps we can all greatly reduce our exposure to fluoride and eliminate much of what we do have in our bodies.

Run with the Benefits of Barefoot Running

by: Dr. David Jockers

(NaturalNews) Barefoot running is relatively non-existent in industrialized and wealthier countries although it remains common in poorer nations. Cushioned shoes are comfortable and well-integrated into our modern day society; however, science has shown they may not be the best way to run.

Running barefoot can be a comfortable and refreshing experience that most people enjoy. According to the research, it has actually been shown to be biomechanically congruent for reducing the force of impact on knee, ankle, and foot joints. .

A recent study published in the journal Nature showed that barefoot runners had a greater amount of time landing on the balls of their feet compared to runners in shoes who tend to land on their heels first. Using motion and force analysis, scientists showed that barefoot runners who strike on the forefoot generate smaller impact forces than shod rear-foot strikers.

The human foot evolved over thousands of years without cushioned shoes. The structure of the foot and lower leg is very efficient at absorbing the shock of landing. By using the natural rhythm of gravity, barefoot running is extremely efficient at turning the energy of the fall into forward motion.

Daniel Lieberman PhD, professor of human evolutionary biology at Harvard, says that cushioned footwear leads to a change in running mechanics that increase heel strike of the foot. Barefoot running, on the other hand, promotes striking the ground with the forefoot and middle of the foot. Running on the balls of the feet or middle of the foot reduces impact force by 2-3 times the amount of body weight that heel striking runners repeatedly experience.

"People who don't wear shoes when they run have an astonishingly different strike," Lieberman said in a news release. "By landing on the middle or front of the foot, barefoot runners have almost no impact collision, much less than most shod runners generate when they heel-strike. Most people today think barefoot running is dangerous and hurts, but actually you can run barefoot on the world's hardest surfaces without the slightest discomfort and pain."

"It's really about how you hit the ground," said Lieberman. "When you hit the ground, some of your body comes to a dead stop." For runners in cushioned shoes, "it is literally like someone hitting you on the heel with a hammer, but the way in which barefoot runners run is more or less collision free."

Heel striking causes a large and sudden collision force at an average of 960 times for every mile they run, "making runners prone to repetitive stress injuries." Barefoot runners tend to point their toes more at landing, minimizing the collision by decreasing the "effective mass of the foot that comes to a sudden stop when you land, and by having a more compliant or springy leg."

Barefoot Running Suggestions:

1.Run on Grass: One of the most enjoyable ways to run barefoot is in the grass from spring – fall. Soccer or football fields are great.

2.Running on Harder Surfaces: Be careful and ease into it. Many people swear by running barefoot on hard surfaces, but it can be dangerous. Over-time your eye-foot coordination will improve.

3.Specific Footwear: Certain apparel simulates barefoot running while providing a quality level of protection. These products are very helpful.

4.Ease Into It: Barefoot running depends on a different series of muscle contractions that most people rarely use when running in shoes. Like any new form of exercise, this can cause soreness in the ankle, calf, and foot. Progress into it slowly and after 2 weeks you should have acclimated appropriately.

Court Finds For ANH-USA In Stunning Victory Over FDA

(Thank You Jonathan Emord!)

This was a key federal case argued for ANH-USA and other plaintiffs by Jonathan Emord and the Emord law firm. It was a remarkable seventh victory for Emord over the FDA in the area of allowable health claims for food or supplements. Unless reversed on appeal, the decision restricts the Agency’s ability to place gag orders on the emerging science behind healthy foods and dietary supplements.

The case revolved around what are called qualified health claims. In a qualified health claim, the producer of a food or supplement tries to share the state of the science behind the product with the public. If the science is less than completely conclusive, usually the case with food or food related items, the claim is “qualified”.

The FDA has never liked qualified health claims. It wants food and supplements to be treated like drugs and forced to submit to the full FDA approval process in order to make any health claims. Of course this is crazy. Food and supplements, being natural, cannot usually be patented, and nobody can afford to spend a billion dollars to gain FDA approval of claims on an unpatented product that anyone else can sell.

The FDA knows this full well. The real reason it does not want any health claims for food or supplements is probably that it fears that this will create competition for approved drugs– and drugs pay the Agency’s bills. This is a scandal that badly needs to be addressed. The Environmental Protection Agency does not, so far as we can see, represent the interests of coal mining companies. So why should the FDA represent the drug companies rather than the public? Probably because the monopoly created for drug companies by the FDA has given the drug companies vast sums to spend to gain influence. Coal companies are poor by comparison.

The judge in this case, Ellen Huvelle of the United States District Court of the District of Columbia, rendered a summary judgment. That means she felt the case was clear from the start. The FDA was violating freedom of speech by saying that no cancer related health claims about the mineral selenium could be made unless the science was completely conclusive or unless ridiculous and misleading disclaimers were added to the message.

Although this case was focused on selenium, it has much bigger ramifications. The judge was in effect saying that food and dietary supplement producers have a right under the free speech doctrine to talk about the science behind the product so long as they accurately represent that science. The FDA is currently flush with cash from new appropriations. It may appeal. Even if it does not appeal, it may fall back into a passive aggressive stance of quibbling over every word of every qualified claim. But at some point, the accumulation of court decisions against the Agency should finally result in some real change. Although the struggle is far from over, this court victory is an important milestone along the way to an eventual victory for free speech, uncensored science, and common sense.

Honeybees are Protectors of Humanity and Guardians of the Planet

by: William Rudolph

(NaturalNews) Albert Einstein once said, "If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man." Through their production of an elite class of superfoods and around-the-clock pollination efforts that touch nearly every corner of the planet, the influence of honeybees is directly linked to mankind`s ability to live in abundance and, perhaps, even survive.

Pollination is the process that fuels the germination of plants. It is through this process that plants are able to multiply, grow, and flourish. Honeybees are responsible for the vast majority of all pollination, and experts estimate that one third of the world`s food supply relies directly on the honeybee`s prolific capacity for pollination.

Honeybees are master craftsman that display all of the elements of a genius at work: delicate precision, incredible instincts, and a work ethic unparalleled by almost any other living creature. Just one honeybee can pollinate 30 flowers a minute. Here is a small sampling of the fruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts grown in tropical, sub-tropical, and temperate climates that rely on the pollination efforts of honeybees:

Almonds, apples, apricots, avocados, beets, blueberries, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cashews, celery, cherries, coconuts, cotton, cucumber, grapes, lemons, limes, mangos, onions, papaya, pears, soybeans, strawberries, and watermelon.

In addition to pollinating, honeybees produce some of the most nutritionally comprehensive superfoods in the world, and they are the only insects that produce foods for human consumption. They include bee pollen, honey, propolis, and royal jelly. These superfoods are directly linked to longevity, healing the body and overcoming disease, improving athletic performance, increasing cognitive abilities, and an overall enhancement in the quality of life in those who consume them.

People have known about these benefits for thousands of years. Russian research has shown that beekeeping is the longest lived profession in the world. Considering that it is rare to find a beekeeper that doesn`t consume some of the products from the hive, the connection to longevity is obvious. Even bee stings have been used to help with arthritis (bee venom therapy) and beeswax is used in the production of candles, soaps, and other useful products. There is also evidence that the Greek philosopher Pythagorus was a voracious consumer of honey, and bee products were used throughout the early games in Ancient Greece by Olympic athletes. Even Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, is thought to have used bee pollen over 2,500 years ago as part of his healing protocol.

If you want to improve the quality and increase production of your fruit, vegetable, or flower garden, try keeping bees on your property next to your garden and see what happens. You`ll have not only your own superfood production factory, but also an additional army of super pollinators eager to catapult the yield of your garden into the stratosphere. Honeybees have the unique ability to both feed and heal the people of the world.

Is BP Trying to Cap the Gulf Oil Well, or Keep it Flowing? (opinion)

by Mike Adams

(NaturalNews) Today, I spent my time interviewing people on the Gulf Coast from Mississippi to Louisiana. Several of those interviews were conducted on camera, and you'll be seeing those videos as early as tomorrow here on NaturalNews.

Interestingly, it turns out that a lot of the people living on the Gulf Coast have a history of working with oil companies — and even on oil rigs. I spoke to several people who have a work history with BP, and two of them told me they are certain that British Petroleum is NOT trying to stop the oil coming out of the well. What they are trying to do, I was told, is SAVE the oil well so that they can capture the oil and sell it.

This claim stands in direct contradiction to what BP says. The company insists it's trying to stop the flow of oil from the well. But if you look at BP's actions, what they're really trying to do is siphon off the gushing oil where it can be pumped to a tanker ship and sold as crude. It is a simple matter, by the way, for oil companies to separate water from oil. They do it all the time in oil fields all across America. So if they can siphon off the oil from the Deepwater Horizon well — even if it's mixed with water — they can sell it for potentially billions of dollars.

It raises the question: Is the economic promise of captured oil causing BP to avoid using its best effort to cap the well?

Tapping, not capping

Notice that the new device they're lowering onto the well is designed not to close it off but to pump the oil to an awaiting ship. This is a plan to "capture" the oil, not to seal off the well.

The mainstream media hasn't picked up on this yet, by the way. To my knowledge, no one is yet reporting this story that BP may have never had any intention of actually capping the deep sea well.

We already know BP has been extremely dishonest with the media about this entire situation. By distorting the truth and lying to the public, BP has lost all credibility with almost everyone (Governors, Senators, journalists, etc.). So how can we trust that BP is actually trying to cap this well when there's so much money to be made from allowing it to keep spilling oil that can soon be captured?

In other words, it's in BP's financial interests to avoid capping the well and claim the well can't be capped when, in reality, what they may be trying to do is buy more time until they can lower a "capture containment device" onto the well head that can direct all the outflowing crude oil to BP's awaiting tanker ships.

In talking to the people face to face here on Gulf Coast, I learned that Gulf Coast people don't trust BP, and they don't trust the company's intentions. Today was the first I had heard of the BP agenda to "keep the well flowing" yet suddenly this theory makes sense. BP, after all, went through all the trouble and expense to drill the well. Why wouldn't they want to cash in on the crude oil coming out of it?

To collapse the well and plug it for good would destroy BP's chance to siphon off oil and sell it for profit (until at least August, when the pressure relief wells are expected to be completed). And that is perhaps the single most important reason why oil is still flowing out of that well right now.

As one person I interviewed today put it, "Why should a British petroleum company care about what happens to America's shores?" After all, the financial payoffs to the businesses hurt by the spill may pale in comparison to the billions of dollars in profit to be had from tapping — not capping — the well and turning crude oil into raw cash.

There will be more to this story. Let's see if the mainstream media picks up on this angle.

By the way, I don't yet have conclusive proof that BP's intentions are to avoid capping this well. It's just a working theory based on people I've talked to here on the Gulf Coast who appear to know what they're talking about. BP would obviously deny this, but then again BP has denied many things that we know to be true (like the fact that the beach cleanup crews specifically cleaned the beach on Grand Isle before Obama showed up, then left promptly as soon as he left).
