Average American Diet Deficient In Key Nutrients

(NaturalNews) A three-year study surveying the dietary habits of over 16,000 Americans has found that a large portion of the population consistently fails to meet even the minimal intakes recommended in the Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) for many key nutrients. The study, published in the Journal of Nutrition (August 2011), concluded, "Without enrichment and/or fortification and supplementation, many Americans did not achieve the recommended micronutrient intake levels set forth in the Dietary Reference Intake."

The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2003-2006 reviewed the average intake of 19 micronutrients in 16,110 people, including key vitamins such as vitamin A and K and important minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

The majority of the population shows a sufficient minimum intake of the following nutrients: vitamin B-6, folate, zinc, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B-12, phosphorus, iron, copper, and selenium.

The study notes that fortified food (food with artificial nutrients added to it) and vitamin/mineral supplementation are the reasons the majority of these daily requirements are met. In other words, our food is clearly deficient in key nutrients.

On the down side of the study, a large percentage of the population showed intakes of other key nutrients that are clearly below the minimum daily requirements. These nutrients are magnesium, calcium and vitamins A, C, D, and E.

– 25% do not get enough Vitamin C
– 34% do not get enough Vitamin A
– 38% do not get enough Calcium
– 45% do not get enough Magnesium
– 60% do not get enough Vitamin E
– 70% do not get enough Vitamin D

It is important to note that the minimum daily requirement for a nutrient is usually defined as the lowest amount that can be taken in order to not develop a "deficiency" and an associated disease or health condition. For example, the minimum daily requirement for Vitamin C is 90 mg. If you take less than this amount for an extended period of time you will develop scurvy. Although taking 90 mg will keep scurvy at bay, it is not the amount needed for optimal health. These daily requirements were never designed with "optimal health" in mind, only the avoidance of disease. However, health is much more than just the absence of disease.

Consumption Of White Food And Flour Products Linked To Diabetes

Flour used to make white bread and food products is chemically bleached with substances like benzoyl peroxide, nitrosyl, oxide of nitrogen, chloride and chlorine. These in turn have various chemical salts added to them to enhance the bleaching process. Nutrients which are removed from the flour during the bleaching process include Vitamin E, potassium, phosphorus, copper, niacin, calcium, thiamin, pantothenic acid and pyridoxine.

White rice experiences the same nutrient loss as white flour when processed. Where brown rice is produced by simply removing the grain husks, white rice is produced by removing the inner husk as well. Once this is done, the grains are then polished with glucose to enhance their visual appeal.

These processes result in foods which have an extremely high GI (glycemic index) content. These result in sugars being released into the bloodstream far more rapidly than they should be. This causes blood sugar levels to spike and releases more insulin into the bloodstream. This results in the pancreas being overworked, which can result in diabetes.

White food products also lead to an increase in LDL (bad) cholesterol in the arteries. They also cause the metabolism to slow down, which results in weight gain, especially around the stomach and waist areas. Their lack of dietary fibre can also lead to constipation in more sensitive individuals. Because the body is then not able to remove all of the waste products it contains, it can then become more susceptible to other diseases such as Crohn`s disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and even colon cancer.

Research Says Eating Walnuts Improves Critical Thinking

(NaturalNews) Walnuts have long been known to influence the brain and in the natural health world, they're known as a key brain food. Now, according to research published in the British Journal of Nutrition, eating walnuts regularly can significantly increase critical thinking and especially what's called inferential reasoning.

 

Inferential reasoning is the ability to infer truth from other known truth and it is also the ability to deduce information based on prior experience and context. It's sometimes thought that there are two fundamental types of reasoning. So dramatically improving one is an enormous step in the right direction, and it's nice that it can be done by an easy dietary addition.

This research was done at Andrews University and led by Peter Pribis, associate professor of nutrition and wellness. Two groups of Andrews students were used: the students either ate banana bread with ground walnuts in it or a similar looking and tasting banana bread without walnuts. Then, after eight weeks of either eating walnuts or not, the students were tested for inferential reasoning and other cognitive skills. And especially for inferential reasoning, the results were impressive.

According to Pribis, "We discovered that students who consumed walnuts experienced improvement in critical thinking, specifically inferential reasoning." They actually found that eating a half cup of walnuts a day for eight weeks led to an 11.2 percent increase in inferential reasoning skills, which is the difference between an A or a B, or a B and a C.

According to the researchers, walnuts contain a wide number of neuroprotective compounds including vitamin E, folate, melatonin, polyphenolics, and significant amounts of a-linolenic acid, or ALA. Because ALA is the precursor for EPA and DHA, with plenty of ALA our bodies can make more EPA and DHA too.

The researchers also tell us that DHA is important for brain membrane stability, brain plasticity, and gene expression. Further, DHA increases the speed of brain signal transmissions while increasing serotonin and dopamine concentrations. Serotonin and dopamine are essential for brain and mood health and many brain medications manipulate these natural compounds.

Walnuts are also key sources of omega three fatty acids and most American diets lack these important fatty acids. Actually, the brain is almost 60 percent comprised of the structural fats that are found in walnuts.

Walnuts, like many other nuts, are great sources of protein too and they can be key replacements for animal eating. With benefits like these and other recent news that plant based vegetarian diets can prevent or reverse a variety of serious illnesses, it really seems the way to go.

The Truth About Gardasil

The mainstream media's response to the incident has included a lot of whitewashing, as well as a full-scale damage control operation to reaffirm the supposed safety of Gardasil, which is alleged by Merck to prevent human papillomavirus (HPV) and some forms of cervical cancer. But the cat is out of the bag as thousands of curious Americans, many for the first time, are learning about the very real dangers associated with the Gardasil vaccine.

Not long after the vaccine was approved back in 2006, Gardasil's deadly side effects quickly began to emerge. Reports came in about young girls experiencing seizures and developing chronic neurological problems, as well as other conditions, immediately after receiving one or more of the three-part Gardasil vaccination schedule.

And according to Dr. Sherri Tenpenny from NewsWithView.com, there were already more than 1,200 adverse events from the vaccine logged in the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) less than a year after its release.

And because as little as one percent of adverse events are even reported in VAERS, Dr. Tenpenny says that as many as 126,000 instances of "acute health problems" may have resulted from young girls getting their Gardasil shots.

A report was put together by a group of mothers whose daughters died or became seriously injured after receiving either Gardasil or Cervarix. Cervarix is another, but less popular, HPV vaccine produced by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).

Major adverse events caused by the shots include the development of autoimmune disorders, paralysis, Guillain Barre Syndrome, seizures, migraine headaches, blindness, hearing loss, memory loss, and death (http://truthaboutgardasil.org/wp-co…).

So far in 2011 alone, there have been nearly 1,500 adverse events reported in association with Gardasil or Cervarix — and in 2010, there were more than 2,500 adverse events reported in association with the two vaccines (http://vaers.hhs.gov/data/data).

To date, there have been more than 21,000 reported cases of girls being adversely injured by Gardasil or Cervarix, more than 3,100 serious injury reports, and more than 100 reported deaths.

Based on this information, you can clearly see why Gov. Perry's 2007 executive order, and his continued defense of it, represents a significant threat to public health. If Gov. Perry's executive order would have been preserved and upheld by the Texas state legislature, thousands of additional girls in Texas may have been seriously injured or killed as a result.

Texas School Girls Still Dying In The Wake Of Rick Perry’s Greed

(NaturalNews) Reports are still streaming in of girls in Texas as young as 9 years old having outbreaks of genital warts, going into convulsions, becoming paralyzed, slipping into comas, and even dying after being force-vaccinated by the highly controversial HPV vaccine Gardasil.

Thousands of well-documented cases have been posted to VAERS, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, but nothing is being done because VAERS only investigates cases that the manufacturer Merck suggests as, "complaints that require further research," which, so far is none.

"In our analysis of VAERS data, we look for patterns of adverse events that may be plausibly linked to a vaccine. Such patterns of adverse events may require further study."

Put simply, if a suspected murderer was on trial, and the Judge asked him or her if there were any other accomplices who helped plan or commit the crime, and the suspect said no, should the jury and the general public feel secure, that the suspect is telling the truth, and that no further investigation is necessary?

There are absolutely no checks and balances in place for properly verifying the flood of incoming damage reports. Nurses in Virginia filter and medically encode the public complaints on VAERS, and then they repost them, often make coding errors.

Plus, the site is regulated by the FDA who approved the horror in the first place. How can the public rely on the so called "transparency" of the site when reports are botched and full of misleading medical codes? As far as the public knows, the last coma report could now be listed as "broccoli allergen 3.2."

To make things worse, girls and their parents must be "educated" about the vaccine before it is administered, so in other words, have a frank discussion with your nine year old child about sex before you place them in line to be poisoned against their will.

Is this 1940 Nazi Germany all over again? Maybe all the victims of this executive order should also be forced to watch a video that documents the Republican extremist Rick Perry's infamous run for the oval office and his political views.

The damage being done to young, innocent girls and boys is extensive. Eleven deaths occurred less than one week after receiving the vaccine, seven of which died in less than two days. Three of the deaths were boys. The most common diagnosis of the cause of those deaths was blood clotting.

One female died from a blood clot within 3 hours. The echocardiogram revealed an enlarged right ventricle and blood clot within the right atrium and the right ventricle. Reports also include the onset of Guillain-Barre syndrome, a serious disorder where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks part of the nervous system.

Judicial Watch, the public interest group which investigates and prosecutes government corruption, released a report based on new FDA documents regarding adverse reactions to the vaccine, including over a hundred deaths and spontaneous abortions caused by Gardasil. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published an article that describes over 12,000 reports of adverse events following Gardasil vaccinations.

The serious adverse events include anaphylactic shock, convulsion, foaming at mouth, coma, paralysis, and death. One report says a girl experienced anaphylactic shock two minutes after the vaccination. This kind of shock is considered to be immediately life-threatening. Trial data alone revealed that over 70 percent of the participants who received Gardasil acquired a new medical condition, ranging from flu-like symptoms to paralysis.

Thousands of VAERS reports include fainting (syncope) that caused serious head injuries, so the FDA and CDC's cure for this is, "Keeping the vaccinated person seated for up to 15 minutes after vaccination." But then new information surfaced that many of the girls who fainted experienced "tonic-clonic jerking movements and seizure-like activity," so the FDA revised the labeling for the immunization providers with a new "Warnings and Precautions" section.

One 14 year old girl took six steps after being injected with the vaccine and collapsed to the floor unconscious, experiencing a one minute long grand mal seizure. When she finally came to, her blood pressure was 60/40.

According to one physician's post to VAERS, a 17 year old female who was vaccinated with a .5ml dose experienced painful swelling "the size of a golf ball" at the needle's point of entry on her arm.

Over 19,000 of the VAERS reports are from the United States. Over 900 of those are from Texas. More than 3,000 reports are from "unknown locations," so the Texas total could be much higher. Over 400 reports in Texas include emergency room visits, 10 of which involve extended hospital stay. Thirty one reports are of girls who are now disabled, and more than 175 others who did not recover from their injuries.

Gardisil is basically useless. Most HPV infections in young females are temporary and have little long-term significance. Seventy percent of infections are gone in 1 year and ninety percent in less than 2 years. Plus, the vaccine only uses a couple of possible strains of human papillomavirus, of which there are literally hundreds.

So why did this vaccine ever get approved by the FDA and hit so many schools in the United States and Great Britain? The U.S. pharmaceutical giant Merck needed a new cash cow to replace the billions they lost from Vioxx, which got pulled from the market after causing over 50,000 deaths. Gardasil would have no problem filling the void, as it costs up to $1000 per dose, conveniently paid for through Medicaid by yours truly – the taxpayer.

Worldwide, over 35 million girls have been injected with the Gardasil vaccine. So far, Gardasil has been linked to over 140 deaths and countless side-effects, while cancer associated with HPV is only responsible for 1% of all cancer deaths. Gardasil is marketed mainly towards males and females age 9 to 26 as a "preventative" tool against cervical and anal cancer.

Why does Gardasil cause so many problems? The vaccine contains polysorbate 80, which is carcinogenic and mutagenic. When injected into rats, it causes their reproductive organs to grow abnormally and then become sterile. When used intravenously with vitamins it has been known to cause anaphylactic shock. The vaccine also contains sodium borate, which is widely known for its use as a roach pesticide, and the U.S. National Library of Medicine lists its side effects as vomiting, collapse, convulsions, and coma. Sound familiar?

The absurdity of the entire HPV hoax lies in the fact that the risk of adverse side effects from the vaccine is so much greater than the risk of contracting cervical cancer. Gardasil is just another H1N1 invasion of human rights that is causing permanent injuries and death all in the name of Rick Perry's political need for monetary backing.

Now Is The Time To Take Action! FDA Extends Comment Period

(NaturalNews) Massive public outcry against the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) proposed guidelines for New Dietary Ingredients (NDI) in supplements appears to be having a significant impact, as the agency recently announced a 60-day extension period for the public to submit comments on the issue. This means that now is the time to petition everyone you know to bombard the agency with concerted opposition to its proposed takeover of the supplement industry.

In case you missed it, the FDA back in July proposed new notification guidelines for handling new dietary supplement ingredients and ingredient blends created after the passage of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA).

However, the proposals, which come from mandates attached to DSHEA, actually contradict the legislation's notification provisions by turning them into an FDA approval process similar to what drugs must undergo.

In essence, the FDA has basically proposed a plan to hijack the entire supplement industry, and force it to comply with a non-existent approval process that was never a part of DSHEA, and that was never intended to pass by Congress. And if the agency gets the proposal passed as is, many of the supplements used today by millions will likely be forced off the market, not to mention their producers run out of business.

But it appears that, because of widespread publicity about the FDA's sinister plot, the agency has decided to extend the comment period for its "Dietary Supplements: New Dietary Ingredient Notifications and Related Issues." So the public now has until December 2 to submit comments pertaining to the proposal.

This is great news, of course, as it gives the natural health community more than enough time to let the FDA know that we are watching and listening, and that we do not approve of its little scheme. We absolutely must join together now, and tell the FDA to keep its hands off our supplements!

Monsanto’s Roundup Weed Killer Turning Up In Air, Rain And Rivers

(NaturalNews) Last month, the US Geological Survey (USGS) released a report showing that air, rainwater and rivers across the Midwest US agricultural belt are routinely contaminated with high levels of glyphosate, a pervasive herbicide produced by biotechnology giant Monsanto. And according to some, Monsanto has likely known about this for some time, but chosen to hide it from the public.

After two years of gathering and analyzing environmental samples, USGS scientists determined that the more than 180 million pounds of glyphosate spread on conventional and genetically-modified (GM) crops every year is causing "significant" environmental contamination.

Certain that Monsanto is hiding its own critical information about Roundup, Ken Cook, president of the consumer advocacy organization Environmental Working Group (EWG), has written an open letter to Hugh Grant, chairman and president of Monsanto, petitioning him to immediately release any and all studies the company is hiding about the herbicide.

"Monsanto notoriously hid PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl) contamination in Alabama for decades," said Cook, referring to the infamous Monsanto PCB scandal where a plant producing the chemical from 1929 to 1972 ended up turning the entire town of Anniston, Ala., into a type of toxic waste zone — and PCB is still showing up around the area to this day (http://www.naturalnews.com/023254_M…).

"We are asking that in this case, [Monsanto] tell the public what it knew about glyphosate contamination, and when it knew. It is inconceivable that a company with Monsanto's scientific capacity did not predict, and examine, the possibility of air and water contamination by glyphosate."

Back in the summer, it was revealed that Monsanto knew glyphosate caused birth defects, endocrine disruption, DNA damage, reproductive and developmental toxicity, neurotoxicity, and cancer. This was discovered in many of its own scientific studies. But according to reports, the company knowingly withheld this crucial information from the public, and from government officials, in order to keep the product on the market.

So is it unreasonable, then, to assume that Monsanto is aware of, but withholding, critical data proving that glyphosate permeates into the deepest corners of the natural environment upon extensive use, contaminating everything in its path? Cook appears to think so, and we tend to agree with him.

Olive Oil And Nuts In Diet Control Heart Disease

Researchers commented, "A modification in the entire diet pattern managed to achieve in just one year, results that pharmaceutical drugs did not – even after two years of treatment." The placebo contained highly toxic aluminum, polysorbate 80 and sodium borate – items whose side effects are markedly similar to those being experienced after Gardasil injections.

Actual trial data for Gardasil reveals that a shocking 73.3 percent of the participants who received Gardasil acquired a new medical condition ranging from flu-like symptoms to paralysis. Almost 60% had systemic reactions. The "placebo" recipients had similar results, but obviously no mere saline solution would have produced even a fraction of such reactions.

Studies have actually shown that Gardasil and its sister vaccine Cervarix (from GlaxoSmithKline) provide no protection for women already exposed to the HPV virus, and in fact present highly elevated risks for already exposed women as well as for expectant mothers. When the vaccine is administered to a woman with a dormant or harmless form of HPV, her likelihood of developing precancerous lesions increases by a staggering 44.6 percent.

The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) has reported 45 cases of spontaneous abortion, or miscarriage, following Gardasil vaccination. At the time the vaccine was approved, five babies had been born with congenital birth defects after their mothers had been given Gardasil compared to zero in a placebo group. Later reports put the number of birth defects in the vaccinated group closer to 40.

3. Vaccination safety organization SANE Vax announced that they discovered that Gardasil has been contaminated with a substance many government health and safety agencies classify as a bio-hazard. HPV recombinant DNA (rDNA) was found in 100% of the 13 samples which had different lot numbers and came from New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Poland, France, and three states in the U.S.

4. Due to lack of prescribing information furnished to doctors by Merck, doctors are reluctant to report adverse events and other factors; actual deaths and adverse events for Gardasil are hugely under-reported. It has been estimated that only 10% of adverse events for other vaccines are reported. With Gardasil the estimates range as low as 1%.
