Doctors Warn: Avoid Genetically Modified Food

by Jeffrey M. Smith

On May 19th, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) called on “Physicians to educate their patients, the medical community, and the public to avoid GM (genetically modified) foods when possible and provide educational materials concerning GM foods and health risks.”[1] They called for a moratorium on GM foods, long-term independent studies, and labeling. AAEM’s position paper stated, “Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food,” including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. They conclude, “There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation,” as defined by recognized scientific criteria. “The strength of association and consistency between GM foods and disease is confirmed in several animal studies.”

More and more doctors are already prescribing GM-free diets. Dr. Amy Dean, a Michigan internal medicine specialist, and board member of AAEM says, “I strongly recommend patients eat strictly non-genetically modified foods.” Ohio allergist Dr. John Boyles says “I used to test for soy allergies all the time, but now that soy is genetically engineered, it is so dangerous that I tell people never to eat it.”

Dr. Jennifer Armstrong, President of AAEM, says, “Physicians are probably seeing the effects in their patients, but need to know how to ask the right questions.” World renowned biologist Pushpa M. Bhargava goes one step further. After reviewing more than 600 scientific journals, he concludes that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are a major contributor to the sharply deteriorating health of Americans.

Pregnant women and babies at great risk

Among the population, biologist David Schubert of the Salk Institute warns that “children are the most likely to be adversely effected by toxins and other dietary problems” related to GM foods. He says without adequate studies, the children become “the experimental animals.”[2]

The experience of actual GM-fed experimental animals is scary. When GM soy was fed to female rats, most of their babies died within three weeks—compared to a 10% death rate among the control group fed natural soy.[3] The GM-fed babies were also smaller, and later had problems getting pregnant.[4]

When male rats were fed GM soy, their testicles actually changed color—from the normal pink to dark blue.[5] Mice fed GM soy had altered young sperm.[6] Even the embryos of GM fed parent mice had significant changes in their DNA.[7] Mice fed GM corn in an Austrian government study had fewer babies, which were also smaller than normal.[8]

Reproductive problems also plague livestock. Investigations in the state of Haryana, India revealed that most buffalo that ate GM cottonseed had complications such as premature deliveries, abortions, infertility, and prolapsed uteruses. Many calves died. In the US, about two dozen farmers reported thousands of pigs became sterile after consuming certain GM corn varieties. Some had false pregnancies; others gave birth to bags of water. Cows and bulls also became infertile when fed the same corn.[9]

In the US population, the incidence of low birth weight babies, infertility, and infant mortality are all escalating.

Food designed to produce toxin

GM corn and cotton are engineered to produce their own built-in pesticide in every cell. When bugs bite the plant, the poison splits open their stomach and kills them. Biotech companies claim that the pesticide, called Bt—produced from soil bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis—has a history of safe use, since organic farmers and others use Bt bacteria spray for natural insect control. Genetic engineers insert Bt genes into corn and cotton, so the plants do the killing.

The Bt-toxin produced in GM plants, however, is thousands of times more concentrated than natural Bt spray, is designed to be more toxic,[10] has properties of an allergen, and unlike the spray, cannot be washed off the plant.

Moreover, studies confirm that even the less toxic natural bacterial spray is harmful. When dispersed by plane to kill gypsy moths in the Pacific Northwest, about 500 people reported allergy or flu-like symptoms. Some had to go to the emergency room.[11],[12]

The exact same symptoms are now being reported by farm workers throughout India, from handling Bt cotton.[13] In 2008, based on medical records, the Sunday India reported, “Victims of itching have increased massively this year . . . related to BT cotton farming.”[14]

GMOs provoke immune reactions

AAEM states, “Multiple animal studies show significant immune dysregulation,” including increase in cytokines, which are “associated with asthma, allergy, and inflammation”—all on the rise in the US.

According to GM food safety expert Dr. Arpad Pusztai, changes in the immune status of GM animals are “a consistent feature of all the studies.”[15] Even Monsanto’s own research showed significant immune system changes in rats fed Bt corn.[16] A November 2008 by the Italian government also found that mice have an immune reaction to Bt corn.[17]

GM soy and corn each contain two new proteins with allergenic properties,[18] GM soy has up to seven times more trypsin inhibitor—a known soy allergen,[19] and skin prick tests show some people react to GM, but not to non-GM soy.[20] Soon after GM soy was introduced to the UK, soy allergies skyrocketed by 50%. Perhaps the US epidemic of food allergies and asthma is a casualty of genetic manipulation.

Animals dying in large numbers

In India, animals graze on cotton plants after harvest. But when shepherds let sheep graze on Bt cotton plants, thousands died. Post mortems showed severe irritation and black patches in both intestines and liver (as well as enlarged bile ducts). Investigators said preliminary evidence “strongly suggests that the sheep mortality was due to a toxin. . . . most probably Bt-toxin.”[21] In a small follow-up feeding study by the Deccan Development Society, all sheep fed Bt cotton plants died within 30 days; those that grazed on natural cotton plants remained healthy.

In a small village in Andhra Pradesh, buffalo grazed on cotton plants for eight years without incident. On January 3rd, 2008, the buffalo grazed on Bt cotton plants for the first time. All 13 were sick the next day; all died within 3 days.[22]

Bt corn was also implicated in the deaths of cows in Germany, and horses, water buffaloes, and chickens in The Philippines.[23]

In lab studies, twice the number of chickens fed Liberty Link corn died; 7 of 20 rats fed a GM tomato developed bleeding stomachs; another 7 of 40 died within two weeks.[24] Monsanto’s own study showed evidence of poisoning in major organs of rats fed Bt corn, according to top French toxicologist G. E. Seralini.[25]

Worst finding of all—GMOs remain inside of us

The only published human feeding study revealed what may be the most dangerous problem from GM foods. The gene inserted into GM soy transfers into the DNA of bacteria living inside our intestines and continues to function.[26] This means that long after we stop eating GMOs, we may still have potentially harmful GM proteins produced continuously inside of us. Put more plainly, eating a corn chip produced from Bt corn might transform our intestinal bacteria into living pesticide factories, possibly for the rest of our lives.

When evidence of gene transfer is reported at medical conferences around the US, doctors often respond by citing the huge increase of gastrointestinal problems among their patients over the last decade. GM foods might be colonizing the gut flora of North Americans.

Warnings by government scientists ignored and denied

Scientists at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had warned about all these problems even in the early 1990s. According to documents released from a lawsuit, the scientific consensus at the agency was that GM foods were inherently dangerous, and might create hard-to-detect allergies, poisons, gene transfer to gut bacteria, new diseases, and nutritional problems. They urged their superiors to require rigorous long-term tests.[27] But the White House had ordered the agency to promote biotechnology and the FDA responded by recruiting Michael Taylor, Monsanto’s former attorney, to head up the formation of GMO policy. That policy, which is in effect today, denies knowledge of scientists’ concerns and declares that no safety studies on GMOs are required. It is up to Monsanto and the other biotech companies to determine if their foods are safe. Mr. Taylor later became Monsanto’s vice president.

Dangerously few studies, untraceable diseases

AAEM states, “GM foods have not been properly tested” and “pose a serious health risk.” Not a single human clinical trial on GMOs has been published. A 2007 review of published scientific literature on the “potential toxic effects/health risks of GM plants” revealed “that experimental data are very scarce.” The author concludes his review by asking, “Where is the scientific evidence showing that GM plants/food are toxicologically safe, as assumed by the biotechnology companies?”[28]

Famed Canadian geneticist David Suzuki answers, “The experiments simply haven’t been done and we now have become the guinea pigs.” He adds, “Anyone that says, ‘Oh, we know that this is perfectly safe,’ I say is either unbelievably stupid or deliberately lying.”[29]

Dr. Schubert points out, “If there are problems, we will probably never know because the cause will not be traceable and many diseases take a very long time to develop.” If GMOs happen to cause immediate and acute symptoms with a unique signature, perhaps then we might have a chance to trace the cause.

This is precisely what happened during a US epidemic in the late 1980s. The disease was fast acting, deadly, and caused a unique measurable change in the blood—but it still took more than four years to identify that an epidemic was even occurring. By then it had killed about 100 Americans and caused 5,000-10,000 people to fall sick or become permanently disabled. It was caused by a genetically engineered brand of a food supplement called L-tryptophan.

If other GM foods are contributing to the rise of autism, obesity, diabetes, asthma, cancer, heart disease, allergies, reproductive problems, or any other common health problem now plaguing Americans, we may never know. In fact, since animals fed GMOs had such a wide variety of problems, susceptible people may react to GM food with multiple symptoms. It is therefore telling that in the first nine years after the large scale introduction of GM crops in 1996, the incidence of people with three or more chronic diseases nearly doubled, from 7% to 13%.[30]

To help identify if GMOs are causing harm, the AAEM asks their “members, the medical community, and the independent scientific community to gather case studies potentially related to GM food consumption and health effects, begin epidemiological research to investigate the role of GM foods on human health, and conduct safe methods of determining the effect of GM foods on human health.”

Citizens need not wait for the results before taking the doctors advice to avoid GM foods. People can stay away from anything with soy or corn derivatives, cottonseed and canola oil, and sugar from GM sugar beets—unless it says organic or “non-GMO.” There is a pocket Non-GMO Shopping Guide, co-produced by the Institute for Responsible Technology and the Center for Food Safety, which is available as a download, as well as in natural food stores and in many doctors’ offices.

If even a small percentage of people choose non-GMO brands, the food industry will likely respond as they did in Europe—by removing all GM ingredients. Thus, AAEM’s non-GMO prescription may be a watershed for the US food supply.

International bestselling author and independent filmmaker Jeffrey M. Smith is the Executive Director of the Institute for Responsible Technology and the leading spokesperson on the health dangers of GMOs. His first book, Seeds of Deception is the world’s bestselling book on the subject. His second, Genetic Roulette: The Documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods, identifies 65 risks of GMOs and demonstrates how superficial government approvals are not competent to find most of them. He invited the biotech industry to respond in writing with evidence to counter each risk, but correctly predicted that they would refuse, since they don’t have the data to show that their products are safe.

Hep C

Q:
I have Hep C genotype 1a. I just found out today I have a viral load  of 200,000 can you help me?  How much do I take a day and for how long?

James in N. Carolina

A:
Hi James,

There is no fixed amount to take, everyone and every situation is unique, …but I would start with a minimal amount for a few days or a week, then increase to a more therapeutic level. You may want to get up to ½-2 ounces per day for a week or two. After that, it is a matter of how you feel. If the viral die off is too much too quickly, you can have a Herxheimer effect reaction. Massive die off can make you feel sick with diarheaa and sometimes a fever.

Although silver is very effective with Hep C, but it can take several months. Remember if using larger quantities, take Probiotics an hour or so afterwards to replenish the colon flora.  http://www.utopiasilver.com/products/supplements/probiotics.htm   Live culture yogurt is also good.

We have a First Time Customer Offer of 50% off and if you start seeing results, a gallon is the cheapest way to buy it.

Stupid Science: Diet Soda Promoted As Medicine

by Mike Adams

(NaturalNews) The "most retarded science journal of the year" award goes to the Journal of Urology which has published an article suggesting that diet soda is actually an effective type of medicine for preventing kidney stones (April 19, 2010 issue). The research was led by Dr Brian H. Eisner, a urologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, who is apparently completely clueless about human nutrition and the toxicity of aspartame.

According to Dr Eisner, diet sodas are not only good medicine for preventing kidney stones; they're also a good source of water hydration. Noting that patients need to consume 2-3 liters of water each day, Dr Eisner said in a Reuters article, "If drinking these sodas helps people reach that goal, then that may be a good thing." (http://www.reuters.com/article/idUS…)

If you're thinking this is some sort of April Fools joke, it isn't. Dr Eisner and the Journal of Urology are somehow convinced this is good research and that diet sodas may actually have a positive medicinal effect on the human body. Instances of such "scientific" stupidity appear to be increasing in western medicine where doctors remain wildly ignorant of the effects on the human body caused by processed ingredients or toxic chemical additives.

Aspartame, used as the primary sweetener in diet sodas, is a potent neurotoxin according to experts like Dr Russell Blaylock. Many believe it promotes headaches, vision problems, endocrine system problems and nervous system disorders. It has never been proven safe for human consumption by any honest testing.

Most diet sodas also contain alarmingly high levels of phosphoric acid, a substance that causes a huge increase in acidity throughout the body, suppressing immune function, weakening bones and contributing to kidney stones (not preventing them).

The truth about diet soda
There is absolutely no question that drinking diet soda is atrocious for your health. That a mainstream western doctor would somehow conclude diet soda to be a medicine for preventing kidney stones is equivalent to declaring "pizza prevents heart disease" or that smoking cigarettes prevents cancer. It shows not merely the shocking nutritional ignorance of Dr Eisner himself, but the utter lack of nutritional knowledge among his peers at the Journal of Urology who somehow saw fit to publish his study.

This is called science? Keep in mind that the entire claim is based on the idea that certain diet sodas contain citrate and that frequent consumption of citrate from natural sources (lemonade, lime juice, etc.) is well known to prevent kidney stones. Consuming natural lemonade actually does prevent kidney stones, but you can't extrapolate from that and claim a lemon-flavored diet soda will accomplish the same thing. That's like saying that since fruit helps prevent cancer, then drinking fruit punch must prevent cancer, too.

This research, by the way, never even tested diet sodas on human subjects. It's really just a "thought experiment" from someone who isn't even very good at thinking. The entire paper is the scientific equivalent of saying, "Hey, I betcha that thar diet soda might prevent them kidney stones 'cuz there's citrate in it!"

And the Journal of Urology was just silly enough to actually publish it as science. It makes you wonder: What are the requirements for having a scientific paper rejected by the Journal of Urology?

No coverage of medicinal herbs
I bet a paper touting the very real benefits of the Amazon rainforest herb Chanca Piedra would be rejected by the journal. Chanca Piedra is known as the "stonebreaker" herb throughout South America. It really works to dissolve and eliminate kidney stones, but you'd never see that in a science journal in North America. No, they're too busy touting the "medicinal benefits" of diet soda, if you can believe that.

At this point in the article, I would normally point out how little credibility remains in the world of western medicine and its loony research conclusions. This is an industry that calls homeopathy "witchcraft", that thinks medicinal herbs are dangerous, and that now apparently believes diet sodas are a form of medicine. Any discussion of "credibility" about such an industry is frankly just pointless.

If aspartame and phosphoric acid was somehow good for you, America would be the healthiest nation in the world! And if diet sodas actually worked, then all the people drinking them wouldn't be so obese, would they?

And if diet soda prevents kidney stones, they why are most of the people suffering from kidney stones the very same people who drink a lot of soda? If anything, diet soda causes kidney stones. But I suppose the Journal of Urology can print exactly the opposite and call it "science" if they want, right?

That's exactly why modern "science" has lost so much credibility these days. Because practically any corporate-sponsored idea, no matter how ridiculous, can end up being printed in a "scientific journal" even if its conclusions violate the laws of the known biological universe.

If diet soda prevents kidney stones, then mammogram radiation prevents cancer, too.

Cancer Causing Chemicals Clutter America

by: Christopher C. Barr

“The American people – even before they are born – are bombarded continually with myriad combinations of these dangerous exposures,” wrote a presidential panel on cancer this month regarding chemicals, and radiation from medical uses and from cell phone usage ( http://www.pcp.cancer.gov ).

“With nearly 80,000 chemicals on the market in the United States, many of which are used by millions of Americans in their daily lives and are un- or understudied and largely unregulated, exposure to potential environmental carginogens is widespread,” added the report to the president.

This immediately brought to my mind the great concern of Bill Tufts about cancer and chemicals in households that he has echoed time and again with heartfelt words poured out to me in private conversations.
This cancer concern is a significant part of what drives Bill Tufts to promote Organic Orange TKO as he travels constantly all over this nation and Canada while most men in their 70s are relaxing in retirement.

This commitment by Tufts against chemical exposures both in and to our environment is further evidenced by his insistence of using only organic orange peels for his superior cleaning product. Any orange peel contains the necessary cleaning ingredient but using only organic orange peels eliminates all other chemicals to which conventional oranges are exposed.

Though some might consider commitment against chemicals in the environment an unnecessary fanaticism for a cleaning product the new Presidential Cancer Panel report reveals this to be long past time for mainstream consideration.

Yet the American Cancer Society criticized the report as only “one side of a scientific debate that has continued for almost 30 years”.
This would be as opposed to the American Cancer Society’s own “one side of a scientific debate” that they have monopolized to the exclusion of all others for more than 30 years.

The ACS statement reeks of hypocrisy. Their cancer approach emphasizing use of chemicals and radiation has been virtually to the exclusion of any other consideration.

Couple this with the American Chemical Society’s “Better Living Through Chemistry” canard and you could package these two ACS groups together as the American Charlatans Societies.

Though chemical and radiation exposures increasing cancer incidences are definitely understudied that appears more to be by design as such studies have been strongly indicting and at times very well documented by those credentialed equally or better than those promoting other cancer causing studies.

In the mean time, reducing chemical exposures cannot seriously be argued as harmful at the very least.

Use of Organic Orange TKO reduces chemical exposures, and does so by providing a product that cleans better and for less cost than any other cleaner. That is a win-win-win proposition with no downside at all.
If you are using any other cleaner in your home or business you are not doing as good a job as you could and you are paying too much.
Plus, the new Presidential Cancer Panel report backs up use of Organic Orange TKO.

Grapes Offer Natural Cures for Gout and Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain Relief

by: Susan Kay-Lavery

(NaturalNews) Eating grapes and other fruits rich in potassium has been shown to reduce rheumatoid arthritis symptoms preventing painful gout attacks. Chilled, baked, roasted, or grilled, grapes enhance all foods from appetizers to salads and side dishes. It has recently been recognized that adding grapes to the diet can also lower uric acid in the blood stream helping to prevent gout. Grapes may be eaten straight-up or blended into a fruit juice smoothie with other fruits or vegetable juices to help maintain alkalinity in the blood and urine.

Grapes Help Dissolve Uric Acid Crystals for Natural Pain Relief

When the blood and urine are kept slightly alkaline, acid wastes are more easily eliminated resulting in reduced attacks of rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and painful gout recurrences. Uric acid crystals, formed as a result of lowered kidney function, are dissolved in alkaline urine, allowing them to be removed from the blood stream and preventing deposits in the joints of gout patients.

Regular meals or snacks may be modified with additional nutrition by including grapes. Create a fruit juice swirl by mixing grapes in a blender with strawberries, blue berries, tart cherries, a spoonful of raw honey or maple syrup and a splash of water for a delicious snack and arthritis pain management.

Avoid syrup on pancakes and top them with grapes and strawberries instead. Snack on grapes to quench hunger twinges or thirst, adding to the body`s ability to protect itself against debilitating arthritis joint pain and agonizing gout flare-ups. Rather than consuming harmful drugs and medicines with possible side effects, have grapes on hand for gout pain relief along with other high potassium berries and fruits. Grapes are high in Vitamins A and C and loaded with antioxidants.

Bioflavonoids, Quercetin, Antioxidants and Vitamin C Relieve Rheumatoid Arthritis Join Pain

Buy grapes or grape juice that is organically grown. Both grapes and strawberries are known to absorb high amounts of pesticides through their thin skins, making non-organic versions of these fruits much less desirable.

Red grapes contain a bioflavonoid known as quercetin. This powerful antioxidant operates with Vitamin C to stimulate the immune system to fight infection, cancer, and inflammation and to relieve painful rheumatoid arthritis symptoms offering joint and muscle pain relief for gout and arthritis patients.

Eating Grapes Provides Pycnogenol and Resveratrol Fighting Cancer, Gout and Arthritis

The seeds in grapes contain a substance called pycnogenols. Another antioxidant, pycnogenols aid in fighting all forms of arthritis pain, cardiovascular problems, stress, and allergies.

Researchers at the University of Illinois report how the presence of resveratrol, found in grapes, slows down or stops the growth of benign and malignant tumors. Studies show resveratrol inhibits tumor growth at the initiation, promotion, and progression stages.
France`s Liver Research Study Group claims resveratrol helps prevent liver cancer by blocking the invasion of tumor cells. Science laboratories report findings that it stops the development of an enzyme linked to breast cancer as well as offering rejuvenating effects on skin, keeping it more elastic and younger looking.

Flavonoids in Purple Grapes Help Prevent Cardiovascular Disease

The University of Wisconsin`s research shows that flavonoids found in purple grape juice prevent thickening of the arteries that supply blood to the heart. Researchers continue to study the properties of grapes in the nation`s fight against cancer, heart disease, arthritis and gout joint pain.

California leads the United States in producing the fresh grape crop. New York is second in grape production followed by Washington. Include some grapes in the diet every day for overall good health, as a natural gout cure and for rheumatoid arthritis joint pain relief.

Vaccines Reduce Natural Immunity

by: Mark Sircus Ac., OMD

An old medical acquaintance of mine Dr. Harold E. Buttram wrote many years ago about a little-noted letter-to-the editor in the New England Journal of Medicine, in 1984, about an interesting German study. In the study, a significant though temporary drop of T-helper lymphocytes was found in 11 healthy adults following routine tetanus booster vaccinations. “Special concern rests in the fact that, in 4 of the subjects, the T-helper lymphocytes fell to levels seen in active AIDS patients. The implications of this study are enormous. In regards to this German study, if this was the result of a single vaccine in healthy adults, it is sobering to think of the possible consequences of multiple vaccines (18 vaccines within the first six months of life at latest count) given to infants with their immature and vulnerable immune systems,” wrote Buttram.

Dr. Ken’s Anti Vaccination Protocol

The New England Journal of Medicine study showed that tetanus vaccines cause T-cell ratios to drop below normal, with the greatest decrease after two weeks. Though the altered ratios were found to be similar to those found in AIDS victims the important information from this study has never seen the light of day. “I consider it one of the most flagrant examples of negligence in the area of safety testing in childhood vaccines, the fact that this study has never been repeated,” wrote Buttram.

Literally billions of people around the world have been given tetanus toxoid processed with formaldehyde (as anthrax vaccine is). This might seem incredible when one looks at the fact that during World War Two the American Army reported only six cases of tetanus of which two of the cases were vaccinated. Vaccines in general are medicines against boogie men viruses and it was a dark day when institutionalized medicine fell down this black whole.

Dr. Buttram has been gracious enough to agree to write a forward to my upcoming book Humane Pediatrics. Through the years I have written about pediatrics starting with my books on the dangers and terrors of vaccines and pediatric medicine. It is simply terrible how pediatricians think and how hurtful they act. For instance:

If T helper and other similar types of immune cells have their activity reduced by vaccines then we have a stupendous medical disaster on our hands. And that is exactly what we have. One of the main functions of the T helper cell is to augment or potentiate immune responses by the secretion of specialized factors that activate other white blood cells to fight off infection. Then we have specialized T cells that are important in directly killing certain tumor cells, viral-infected cells and sometimes parasites. Some of these T cells are called natural killer cells and they directly attack and kill cancers such as melanomas, lymphomas and viral-infected cells, most notably herpes and cytomegalovirus-infected cells.

How can medical officials and doctors turn a blind eye to such things and not schedule studies to increase our knowledge of this important area of medicine? Well you know it is impossible for the medical establishment to come up with any study or information that would directly threaten the entire childhood and adult vaccination program. It would be suicidal, so necessary and honest research is deliberately not done. Thus honest medicine was and still is being completely thrown out the window. It’s the same people who justify using neurotic mercury in vaccines as a preservative that are at the heart of this terror. They would rather attack kids and adults’ causing increased incidences of cancer with all the suffering and death implied then be honest and look at the truth.

We certainly think it strange when we read of Americans and now Chinese breaking into schools to stab and shoot at little children but we don’t think so when we read about what is happening to our children at the hands of modern pediatrics.

Many years ago I wrote a chapter called The Rape of Vulnerability. It was an adaptation of an even earlier and most important work of mine from HeartHealth called the Vulnerability of Being. The essence wisdom expressed in that chapter tells us to treasure vulnerability and to do so is the mark of and first law of a pure heart. The following is from The Rape of Vulnerability:

On the day of our birth doctors and nurses, with the willing acceptance and surrender of our parents, plunge cold steel into our flesh and inject a foreign fluid laced with poison and other modified genetic materials that assaults our immune and other critical systems of our bodies. By the time a baby is born their ultra sensitivity keeps them alert to the total environment surrounding their birth. They can feel, and their beings remember in terms of conditioned fear and trust all the attitudes that surround them. It does make a difference to them how they are treated, how they are welcomed into this world. It matters when the doctor becomes impatient and cuts open the mother’s belly, thinking more about money and time than the natural rhythm of mother and infant.

It matters on a being level when cold steel penetrates our tender young body injecting something alien that we are totally defenseless to. It matters the arrogance of the minds of others who violate us in the name of false assumptions, judgments and rationalizations about what is and what is not best for our young lives and what they think is best for society.

There are many things doctors and nurses have traditionally done to rip us away from the pure vulnerability of the moment of our birth, they have hung us upside down and spanked us, taken us away from our mothers before we could bind with them, and shined bright lights in our faces. Making it cold and clinical in operating rooms as opposed to warm and natural in settings that facilitate feelings of safety and security.

But what waits is a quantum level more disturbing to our vulnerability. At the moment of our birth we are confronted with something that holds a threat to our life, with a potential for an early death (for some) for we are injected with nerve toxins that can quickly accumulate and lead to severe neurological damage.

Certainly it is a stress and a hurt that makes us scream to the high heavens but the doctors and nurses smile it off as being normal. Their base line of normality is thrust on our vulnerabilities and often sets the stage for much disruption of health in our very young lives. Babies and young children are totally at the mercy of their environment, they are totally vulnerable.

Find Hair Loss Help Through Homeopathy, Aromatherapy and Folk Remedies

by: Fleur Hupston

(NaturalNews) Natural cures for hair loss have been around for centuries and are generally very effective. Conventional treatments for alopecia include topical steroids and synthetic substances which have damaging side effects. Try age-old natural treatments instead to prevent thinning and to stimulate hair growth.

Flax Oil
Selenium
Stress B Complex
Zinc Balance

Chinese Herbal Remedies

Hair loss is attributed to liver and kidney problems. Specific herbs to rectify this problem include wolfberry (goji berry), mulberry and fleece flower root.

Ginkgo biloba, fo-ti and dong quai are Chinese herbs said to be useful in the treatment of hair loss.

Traditional Home Folk Remedies for Hair Loss

Sage tea, drunk and applied externally, stimulates hair growth. Nettle tea cleanses the system and encourages re-growth. Since hair loss is often the result of poor nutrition, try this healthy and nourishing nettle soup recipe:

Ingredients:

2 cups of young nettle tops
2 potatoes, diced
1 carrot, diced
1 small onion

Method: Boil vegetables until the potatoes are soft. Blend and season to taste.

Aromatherapy for Hair Loss

Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts from the flowers, leaves, bark and roots of various plants. Blend a few drops of rosemary, lavender, grapefruit, cedarwood, lemon or ylang ylang into a carrier oil, such as grapeseed or jojoba oil. Massage into the scalp and leave for at least 5 minutes before rinsing out.

For sensitive skin, use only a few drops of lemon or grapefruit oil, as these oils may be slightly irritating.

Homeopathy for Hair Loss

Visit a qualified homeopath for a professional consultation, as each case varies considerably.

Selenium is often used by homeopaths to treat a painful scalp and loss of hair.

A homeopath may prescribe lycopodium in the case of hair loss after childbirth, and sepia for hair loss related to the menopause or childbirth.

Other treatments a homeopath may prescribe include aurum (for hair loss and boils on the scalp), phosphoric acid (for hair loss relating to grief and/or exhaustion) and arnica (for hair loss after an injury).

Good Nutrition

Cut down on alcohol, fast foods, a nutritionally deficient junk food diet, sugar and caffeine. A natural, healthy diet that includes good fats, protein, whole grains, vitamins and minerals can help to prevent hair loss, thinning hair and balding.

Natural Remedies Treat Dandruff

by: Fleur Hupston

(NaturalNews) Take the time to read the ingredients on a bottle of anti-dandruff shampoo. These shampoos usually contain harmful chemical substances that can have damaging effects on health. Instead, alleviate dandruff naturally by using herbs, essential oils, vitamins and minerals.

Flax Oil

Selenium
Stress B Complex
Zinc Balance

Causes of Dandruff

Dandruff occurs when the fine cells of the outer layer of skin on the scalp are shed at a faster rate than normal, causing flakes to fall and settle like snowflakes on one's shoulders and face.

Dandruff is caused by a disorder of the sebaceous glands. If too little sebum is secreted, the hair is dry and dandruff appears as white flakes; if too much sebum is produced, the hair is greasy and the dandruff is a waxy yellow. Flaking occurs when the hair is brushed or combed, which loosens this dead skin.

Seborrheic dermatitis, a severe form of dandruff, causes inflammation and itchiness in addition to flaking.

Eczema, allergies to hair products and psoriasis may also cause dandruff.

Herbal Treatments for Dandruff

An herbalist may recommend rubbing rosemary-infused oil into the scalp before washing. Rinse greasy hair with rosemary vinegar or add a few drops of rosemary essential oil into rinsing water.

Take herbs such as burdock, kelp and heartsease internally to improve the condition of the scalp.

Aromatherapy for Dandruff

In addition to rosemary essential oil, cedarwood, tea tree or patchouli can be massaged into the scalp. Blend a few drops of therapeutic grade essential oil with a carrier oil, such as jojoba.

Massage the scalp with a few drops of lavender oil and almond oil to eliminate dandruff.

Tissue Cell Salts to Combat Dandruff

Tissue Salt No. 5 – Kali. Mur. White, flaky dandruff shows a need for this mineral salt, but it should be taken over a long period. Flakiness may increase initially. Foods rich in Kali. Mur. are green beans, carrots, beetroot, fresh corn, kale, asparagus, pineapples, lemons and plums.

Tissue Salt No. 6 – Kali. Sulph. This is one of the most useful tissue salts for sticky, waxy dandruff; flaky, dry patches on the scalp as well as alopecia (hair loss). Eat plenty of parsley, linseed, mustard, watercress, salad burnet and melissa.

Tissue Salt No. 12 – Silica. This tissue salt treats dandruff and improves the condition of lusterless hair. It generally keeps the scalp healthy. Herbs and foods rich in silica are stinging nettle, dandelion, comfrey, wheat, maize, barley, oats, apples, guavas, spinach, chicory and celery.
