Nevada Senate Bill 412 to Squelch Natural and Alternative Medicine

 (NaturalNews) A new bill to be presented before the Nevada Senate Committee on Commerce, Labor & Energy, on Friday, April 15, is even worse than the recent SB 31 bill that almost passed unamended in North Carolina. If passed, SB 412 will establish a state-sanctioned "Board of Complementary and Integrative Medicines" in Nevada to control and regulate all natural health care. According to the National Health Federation (NHF), a non-profit health freedom organization, the 47-page bill spells disaster for the natural health community because it will criminalize natural and holistic practitioners who try to operate outside what the state deems worthy of being considered legitimate medicine.

Like other bills that have tried to do the same type of thing in the past, SB 412 makes it sound as if having an official licensing and regulatory board for complementary and alternative medicine is a good thing. But in practice, these established medical boards end up becoming controlled and dominated by special interests that tyrannize anyone who does not comply with its agenda. These boards can become the antithesis of health freedom as they seek to control what can and cannot be practiced, and they stifle freedom of health choice in the process.

As long as practitioners, whether licensed or not, are not hurting anyone, it is our belief that they should be able to provide consenting patients with alternative treatments that can help them. But SB 412 will establish medical overlords who will decide for Nevadans what type of medicine is legitimate, stripping them of their own freedom to make a conscious decision in the matter. This is simply unacceptable and must be stopped.

The recent outpouring of attention to North Carolina's SB 31 led to a significant amendment to its wording that protected non-licensed practitioners in the state from becoming felons. And it was because you helped bombard the NC General Assembly with opposition to the poorly-written bill that it got changed.

Now, it is time to do the same thing with SB 412. Whether or not you live in Nevada, Nevadans need your help to call and email the members of the Nevada Senate Committee on Commerce, Labor & Energy, and urge them to oppose SB 412. The bill is a huge threat to health freedom, and it is not in the best interest of Nevadans or Americans.

Types of Fluorides

Calcium fluoride is in several ground water sources, especially wells. The worst it can do is cause tooth enamel or bone damage if consumed daily over the long term. Pharmaceutical grade sodium fluoride is meant to be applied topically to teeth as a dental procedure. But if swallowed or otherwise ingested, it is extremely toxic.

But the most pernicious of all sodium fluorides is either fluorosilicate acid or sodium silicofluoride. These are the waste products of industry, originally from the nuclear and aluminum industries, but now mostly from the phosphate fertilizer industry.

The gases emitted from phosphate fertilizer processing plants are so toxic that nearby crops were destroyed by the emissions and serious health problems rose among nearby residents. So the EPA forced the processing plants to use scrubbers in their stacks to clean the exhaust.

That solved the toxic emission problems locally while creating an expensive toxic waste disposal problem. How toxic is this scrubbed stuff? A recent spill from a fluorosilicate container in Illinois had to be contained by workers wearing the same type of protective gear worn near the damaged reactors in Fukushima.

Deceptive PR campaigns and the American Dental Association's urging of fluoridation as the panacea for tooth decay created a profitable side industry: Selling phosphate toxic sludge as sodium fluoride for community water supplies. Fluoridated water proponents argue that low doses are safe while ignoring how these daily doses deposit and accumulate in our bones and organs.

Avoiding Sodium Fluoride

Even if not fluoridated, tap water contains chlorine compounds that tend to leach lead. This lead leaching gets with the sodium fluoride added. It has been declared that there is no safe level of lead in our bodies.

Don't drink tap water that has not gone through reverse osmosis, at least. Avoid commercial sodas and juices. Most food stores contain reverse osmosis purifiers that you can use to load large jugs cheaply. There are household purifiers available as well.

Reverse osmosis removes over 85% of sodium fluoride from water, but some of the good minerals are removed as well. Add some sea salt or mineral powder to compensate. Do this to stay healthy and join the growing resistance against forced toxic medication via our water supplies.

A study published in the British Medical Journal found that five diet and lifestyle modifications could lower the risk of developing the third most prevalent form of cancer. Colon cancer incidence continues to rise among western populations as refined junk food consumption skyrockets. The study followed more than 55,000 men and women for more than 10 years and monitored a variety of diet and lifestyle habits. The authors conclude that adherence to these controllable lifestyle patterns can reduce risk of this deadly disease by 23%:

Eat a Healthy Diet: Eat a diet that is high in fiber and includes at least 6 servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Reduce red meat consumption and eliminate processed meats with no more than 30% of calories from fat.

You can lower risk even further by increasing fresh vegetable and leafy greens (limit fruit consumption) to 10 servings each day and cut red meat entirely. Fat is not your enemy as long as it is eaten in a natural unheated state and balanced with critical Omega-3 fats in a 1:1 ratio with Omega-6 vegetable oils. Eliminate fried and processed foods and anything with refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup, wheat or corn.

Exercise at Least 30 Minutes a Day: This study did not define the best type of exercise, but research has shown that short burst resistance exercise is most beneficial to health. Choose your favorite exercise regimen and push yourself to your maximum limit for 1 minute. Rest for 2 minutes and repeat for 15 repetitions, and include all major muscle groups. A brisk walk is also an excellent form of aerobic exercise.

No Smoking: Smoking is the leading preventable cause of many different cancer lines. Be careful to avoid second hand smoke as well.

Limit Alcohol: Alcohol is abrasive to our digestive tract and can alter the optimal acid balance. Further, alcohol is converted to sugars that can add fuel to cancer development.

Maintain Normal Weight: The study found that a waist size of no more than 34.6 for women and 40.1 for men was ideal. Given the typical diet consumed by most participants these numbers are in line with the 23% reduction in colon cancer risk demonstrated by the research.

Waist size is directly related to the risk of developing cancer as well as many other inflammatory mediated diseases. Excess abdominal fat causes the release of dangerous signaling chemicals that promote weight gain and cancer. Target a waist size close to the inseam of your pants.

This study provides another link between diet, lifestyle and cancer. You can virtually eliminate your risk of many cancer lines by following an organic diet and natural lifestyle.

Fukushima Radiation Taints US Milk Supplies

(NaturalNews) The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to release new data showing that various milk and water supply samples from across the US are testing increasingly high for radioactive elements such as Iodine-131, Cesium-134, and Cesium-137, all of which are being emitted from the ongoing Fukushima Daiichia nuclear fallout. As of April 10, 2011, 23 US water supplies have tested positive for radioactive Iodine-131 (http://opendata.socrata.com/w/4ig7-…), and worst of all, milk samples from at least three US locations have tested positive for Iodine-131 at levels exceeding EPA maximum containment levels (MCL) (http://opendata.socrata.com/w/pkfj-…).

As far as the water supplies are concerned, it is important to note that the EPA is only testing for radioactive Iodine-131. There are no readings or data available for cesium, uranium, or plutonium — all of which are being continuously emitted from Fukushima, as far as we know — even though these elements are all much more deadly than Iodine-131. Even so, the following water supplies have thus far tested positive for Iodine-131, with the dates they were collected in parenthesis to the right:

Again, these figures do not include the other radioactive elements being spread by Fukushima, so there is no telling what the actual cumulative radiation levels really were in these samples. The figures were also taken two weeks ago, and were only just recently reported. If current samples were taken at even more cities, and if the tests conducted included the many other radioactive elements besides Iodine-131, actual contamination levels would likely be frighteningly higher.

But in typical government fashion, the EPA still insists that everything is just fine, even though an increasing amount of US water supplies are turning up positive for even just the radioactive elements for which the agency is testing — and these levels seem to be increasing as a direct result of the situation at the Fukushima plant, which continues to worsen with no end in sight (http://www.naturalnews.com/032035_F…).

Water may be the least of our problems, however. New EPA data just released on Sunday shows that at least three different milk samples — all from different parts of the US — have tested positive for radioactive Iodine-131 at levels that exceed the EPA maximum thresholds for safety, which is currently set at 3.0 pico Curies per Liter (pCi/l).

In Phoenix, Ariz., a milk sample taken on March 28, 2011, tested at 3.2 pCi/l. In Little Rock, Ark., a milk sample taken on March 30, 2011, tested at 8.9 pCi/l, which is almost three times the EPA limit. And in Hilo, Hawaii, a milk sample collected on April 4, 2011, tested at 18 pCi/l, a level six times the EPA maximum safety threshold. The same Hawaii sample also tested at 19 pCi/l for Cesium-137, which has a half life of 30 years (http://www.naturalnews.com/031992_r…), and a shocking 24 pCi/l for Cesium-134, which has a half life of just over two years (http://opendata.socrata.com/w/pkfj-…).

Why is this milk contamination significant? Milk, of course, typically represents the overall condition of the food chain because cows consume grass and are exposed to the same elements as food crops and water supplies. In other words, when cows' milk starts testing positive for high levels of radioactive elements, this is indicative of radioactive contamination of the entire food supply.

And even with the milk samples, the EPA insanely says not to worry as its 3.0 pCi/l threshold is allegedly only for long-term exposure. But the sad fact of the matter is that the Fukushima situation is already a long-term situation. Not only does it appear that the Fukushima reactor cores are continuing to melt, since conditions at the plant have not gotten any better since the earthquake and tsunami, but many of the radioactive elements that have already been released in previous weeks have long half lives, and have spread halfway around the world.

The other problem with the EPA's empty reassurances that radiation levels are too low to have a negative impact on humans is the fact that the agency does not even have an accurate grasp on the actual aggregate exposure to radiation from all sources (water, food, air, rain, etc.). When you combine perpetual exposure from multiple sources with just the figures that have already been released, there is a very real threat of serious harm as a result of exposure.

The EPA and other government agencies are constantly comparing Fukushima radiation to background and airplane radiation in an attempt to minimize the severity of exposure, even though these are two completely different kinds of radiation exposure.

No Safe Level of Nuclear Fallout

Background and airplane radiation is an external emitter of radiation, while Fukushima-induced radiation in food and water is an internal emitter. The former, which is considered "normal" radiation, hits your body from the outside, while the latter goes directly inside your body and into your digestive tract. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the immense difference between the two, and the much more severe consequences associated with literally ingesting radiation verses having it hit your skin.

In reality, there really is no safe level of radiation. No matter how many times the EPA and others repeat the lie that radiation levels are too low to have any significant impact, the statement itself is patently false. Many experts, including Jeff Patterson, DO, former President of Physicians for Social Responsibility, have stated that radiation exposure at any level is unsafe, and they are correct.

"There is no safe level of radionuclide exposure, whether from food, water or other sources. Period," said Patterson. "Exposure to radionuclides, such as Iodine-131 and Cesium-137, increases the incidence of cancer. For this reason, every effort must be taken to minimize the radionuclide content in food and water."

And now that radioactive levels in some areas have actually exceeded EPA maximums, Patterson's statement is even more chilling. So while the mainstream media continues its near-total blackout on Fukushima, the situation is actually becoming more severe than it has ever been. Time will tell how severe the long-term effects of this disaster will be, but one thing is for sure — Fukushima radiation cannot and should not be taken lightly..

CoQ10 Improves Hypertension

(NaturalNews) Reporting in the journal Biofactors, researchers found that patients with congestive heart failure that were supplemented with the active form of coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinol) improved ejection fraction by 39%. High blood pressure is closely associated with coronary artery closure due to plaque formation and arterial stiffening as the normally elastic vessels require more pressure to fully circulate blood to the body. The result of a study published in the journal Nutrition and Metabolism found that coenzyme Q10 supplemented along with other potent antioxidant nutrients (vitamin C, vitamin E, and selenium) significantly increased small and large arterial elasticity that led to lower blood pressure and risk of a heart attack.

Subjects in this study received 60 mg of CoQ10 for a period of six months along with moderate amounts of the other nutrients. In addition to improved arterial elasticity, researchers found a significant decline in HbA1C blood sugar levels and an increase in protective HDL cholesterol levels. The authors of the research concluded that the CoQ10 nutrient antioxidant cocktail "has beneficial effect on glucose and lipid metabolism, blood pressure and arterial compliance in patients with multiple cardiovascular risk factors."

It comes as no surprise to most alternative health-minded individuals that nutrients obtained from natural sources exert a powerful influence on human health. Adults will want to supplement with 50 to 100 mg per day (higher amounts may be necessary for existing cardiovascular disease) of the ubiquinol form of coenzyme Q10 to maintain optimal health, energy and protection from age-related diseases of the heart.

A Gluten-Free Diet Can Help Anyone

(NaturalNews) A woman begins noticing that – more and more – she experiences bloating, cramping, and diarrhea not long after finishing a meal. She frequently feels uncomfortable and considers skipping meals to avoid the embarrassment of running to the restroom throughout the day. She might be experiencing gluten sensitivity or gluten intolerance.

In recent years, the term "gluten" has become commonplace, but that doesn't mean that people really know what it is. Gluten is, simply, the protein found in wheat as well as other grains (such as rye, oats, and barley). Many people seem to be unaffected by gluten, but others simply cannot digest this chewy protein.

Gluten intolerance is caused by the body's reaction to gluten. The body identifies gluten as an invader, and the immune system kicks in. It creates antibodies to attack the invader, but – like autoimmune diseases – the antibodies wind up attacking the body itself. In the process, antibodies can damage the villi, which are small, hair-like appendages in the small intestine. When the villi are damaged, the small intestine cannot do its job properly, and it fails to properly absorb nutrients from food.

Dr. Al Sears recommends that everyone cuts back on or avoids gluten; he says that, by doing so, people are returning to a more natural "way of eating." Doing so, he says, will restore the body's natural digestion; it will also increase energy and "improve focus." Microwaved Water Kills Plant In Home Grown Experiment

(NaturalNews) An experiment conducted at home for a high school science fair five years ago has verified the dangers of microwave ovens not only to humans, but even to plants and other organic matter. The experiment showed that microwaved water given to a plant causes the plant to wither and die within days; however, another identical plant given water that was boiled on a conventional stove grew normally during the same time period.

Many studies conducted throughout the world have repeatedly highlighted the deleterious effects of microwave ovens on human health. In fact microwave ovens are so dangerous that they were banned in Russia from 1976 to 1987. Twenty years of thorough research by Russian scientists convinced them that the dangers of the devices outweighed the benefits in cooking time. This experiment further verifies their findings.

In the home experiment, filtered water was divided into two parts. One part would be microwaved and allowed to cool before being given to the plant, while the second part would be heated on a conventional stove top and given to an identical plant. Results were observed over a nine day period. By the third day it was already clear that the plant given the microwaved water was not faring as well as its counterpart.

By the ninth day the microwaved plant was virtually nonexistent in its pot, having literally shrunk in size to just a few inches above the soil. The second plant was growing beautifully.

Microwaved prepared meats cause the formation of d-Nitrosodienthanolamines, a well-known carcinogen. Microwaving can also cause some amino acids in foods such as milk and cereal grains to be converted into carcinogens. Even very short exposure for cooked, frozen or raw vegetables turned their plant alkaloids into carcinogenic matter unfit for human consumption. These carcinogenic free radicals formed in plants and especially in root vegetables exposed to microwaves. Broccoli showed a 97% loss of its vitamin C when cooked in a microwave oven.

Not only is the food cooked in microwave ovens dangerous, but also are the devices themselves. Every part from the power chord right up to the magnetron itself, which is the part that actually emits the radiation heating the food, is dangerous due to high levels of EM emissions.

Tests performed by manufacturers at a distance of two inches show that microwaves do leak out of the devices no matter how expensive or well made the model is. However since microwave radiation drops off dramatically with distance, at 20 inches the radiation is approximately 100 times less than at 2 inches, so it's a good idea to stand back from the unit if you must use one.

Microwaves can pass through walls, so if it's placed against an adjacent wall, those on the other side will be exposed to higher levels of radiation.

As this experiment clearly shows, microwaving your food, even if you are just reheating your tea, is definitely not a good idea. The microwaved plant would agree if it could talk.
