Cataract Surgery

Q:
I had cataract surgery (10 days ago on the right eye, 3 days ago on the left). The doctor has me putting 3 different drops in my eyes 3 times a day. One is an anti-inflammatory, one an antibiotic, and one is a steroid(prednisolone acetate). I hate taking any and all of these ( I am a natural health person), and I am seriously reacting to the steroid. I have been using cs for years in a nose spray to treat allergies. Can I use it for this, too?

Filomena in Maine

A:
Hi Filomena,

…My apology for the delayed response.

I routinely use silver in my own eyes and my pet’s eyes for inflammation, pink-eye, and irritation from debris. Although, I’m not a surgeon to give you advice on discarding the meds he prescribed for you, I have no doubt that silver would enhance the healing process. Burns are some of the most difficult wounds to heal and silver in crèmes and bandaging material is even used by mainstream medicine to accelerate healing and reduce scarring.

You are appreciated in Utopia.
