Cold Sore/Herpes

Cold Sores are simply a form of Herpes caused by herpes simplex 1 (HSV-1) related to the virus that causes genital herpes. Herpes zoster is responsible for chickenpox, shingles, mononucleosis, roseola, and even multiple sclerosis.
This virus is difficult to get rid of, remaining dormant in the body until an “outbreak”. Simplex 1 herpes virus generally “hibernate” in or near the joint of the jaw until triggered by fever, a cold, other viral infection, sun or wind exposure, stress, menstruation, depression of the immune system, or even high levels of the amino acid arginine. Even epidermal trauma or rubbing of the lips can trigger a herpes outbreak. Upon this triggering, the virus travel down the nerves to the lips causing a sore. In the case of genital herpes, the virus remains dormant at the base of the spine until also triggered by any of the above factors.

Colloidal Silver – Apply directly to the sore and take orally.

Aloe Vera – promotes healing especially in combination with colloidal silver.

L-Lysine – in a serving of 500 mg twice a day has been know as excellent fighter and preventative for herpes outbreaks, but should not be taken for more than six months at that level.

• Tea Tree Oil. Tea Tree Oil has to be one of the best items to have in your house. Not only does it cure cold sores, but it works great for bad acne and many other things. To get rid of a cold sore, as soon as you feel the tingle, place a dab of the tea tree oil on the sore. (In the morning and night.) And by the third day, it should be gone.

Vitamin B Complex – used as an immune system booster and also relieves stress.

Zinc – stimulates the immune system.

Acidophilus – inhibits pathogenic organisms.

Primrose Oil – is a great supplement for protection of the cells.

Calcium and Magnesium – are essential for the relief of stress and of muscle tension.

Any of the above supplements are better absorbed using Bromelain which is a pineapple enzyme that enhances digestive function.

It is also beneficial to eat plenty of raw vegetables, as well as live culture yogurt.
Some herpes may be due to low thyroid function.

The Death of America

Are You Prepared to Loose Your Country?
OR
Why Are You Passively Watching the Death of America?

If you have been sitting passively by for the past two decades watching in amazement the transformation of America into a country without enforceable borders and one which has increasingly moved toward one more resembling a third world police state, it may be time to at least ask some questions of yourself and your so-called leaders. This is not an issue of orderly and regulated immigration by those who want to be Americans, both culturally and lawfully. Nor is this an issue of immigration that would benefit the long range interests of our Nation at a level whereby cultural assimilation can occur so that the very fabric of our history, environment, and infrastructure are not destroyed. To honestly answer the title questions, also ask yourself the following:

Is there room for everybody who wants and chooses to come to America to find a better life and just how many of the world’s six billion people can we take in?

Is the open border policy of our so-called “leaders” simply a long range plan for International Federalism aka a one world government? And why are our elected representatives acting in obvious treason to our national sovereignty?

Are the problems of the third world simply one of geography or is it culture and what happens when you transfer a culture from one geographical location to another? Does simply standing on American soil suddenly transform one into a mindset of health and prosperity?

What happens when other cultures are allowed to overwhelm our own culture by shear numbers without time for assimilation into American culture and values and if immigrants want to steadfastly retain their original national identities, then why come to America?

Is our healthcare system prepared to deal with the diseases of the third world that are generally not a problem in America?

Who will pay the added burdens of welfare and medical care programs to supposedly fight this additional disease and poverty?

What happens to the increased demand on natural resources in America, especially when third world immigrants develop a more American attitude toward “consumerism” and the use of natural resources?

What will be the impact of hundreds of millions of third world immigrants and their offspring on the already tattering and pollution of America’s environment and why are those who are truly concerned about environmental issues also the one’s most advocating of “open borders” in the name of so-called “humanitarianism”?

Are you prepared to endure even more overwhelming traffic congestion on our nation’s highways and streets and where will the money come from to expand our transportaion system?

Are retired Americans willing to accept a reduction in their retirement services and benefits for which they thought they had already paid?

Who will shoulder the additional tax burden on already over-taxed American citizens?

If this short video does not cause us all to THINK for a moment about what awaits us if we do not get a firm and immediate handle on the problem of immigration, then we simply deserve the fate that awaits us.

(We will have follow up articles specifically addressing these issues in subsequent Silver Bulletin articles.)

Statistics Prove Prescription Drugs Are 16,400% More Deadly Than Terrorists

by Jessica Fraser

America was rudely awakened to a new kind of danger on September 11, 2001: Terrorism. The attacks that day left 2,996 people dead, including the passengers on the four commercial airliners that were used as weapons. Many feel it was the most tragic day in U.S. history.

Four commercial jets crashed that day. But what if six jumbo jets crashed every day in the United States, claiming the lives of 783,936 people every year? That would certainly qualify as a massive tragedy, wouldn't it?

Well, forget "what if." The tragedy is happening right now. Over 750,000 people actually do die in the United States every year, although not from plane crashes. They die from something far more common and rarely perceived by the public as dangerous: modern medicine.

According to the groundbreaking 2003 medical report Death by Medicine, by Drs. Gary Null, Carolyn Dean, Martin Feldman, Debora Rasio and Dorothy Smith, 783,936 people in the United States die every year from conventional medicine mistakes. That's the equivalent of six jumbo jet crashes a day for an entire year. But where is the media attention for this tragedy? Where is the government support for stopping these medical mistakes before they happen?

After 9/11, the White House gave rise to the Department of Homeland Security, designed to prevent terrorist attacks on U.S. soil. Since its inception, billions of dollars have been poured into it. The 2006 budget allots $34.2 billion to the DHS, a number that has come down slightly from the $37.7 billion budget of 2003.

According to the study led by Null, which involved a painstaking review of thousands of medical records, the United States spends $282 billion annually on deaths due to medical mistakes, or iatrogenic deaths. And that's a conservative estimate; only a fraction of medical errors are reported, according to the study. Actual medical mistakes are likely to be 20 times higher than the reported number because doctors fear retaliation for those mistakes. The American public heads to the doctor's office or the hospital time and again, oblivious of the alarming danger they're heading into. The public knows that medical errors occur, but they assume that errors are unusual, isolated events. Unfortunately, by accepting conventional medicine, patients voluntarily continue to walk into the leading cause of death in America.

According to a 1995 U.S. iatrogenic report, "Over a million patients are injured in U.S. hospitals each year, and approximately 280,000 die annually as a result of these injuries. Therefore, the iatrogenic death rate dwarfs the annual automobile accident mortality rate of 45,000 and accounts for more deaths than all other accidents combined." This report was issued 10 years ago, when America had 34 million fewer citizens and drug company scandals like the Vioxx recall were yet to occur. Today, health care comprises 15.5 percent of the United States' gross national product, with spending reaching $1.4 trillion in 2004.

Since Americans spend so much money on health care, they should be getting a high quality of care, right? Unfortunately, that's not the case. Of the 783,936 annual deaths due to conventional medical mistakes, about 106,000 are from prescription drugs, according to Death by Medicine. That also is a conservative number. Some experts estimate it should be more like 200,000 because of underreported cases of adverse drug reactions.

Americans today are used to fixing problems the quick way – even when it comes to their health. Thus, they rely heavily on prescription drugs to fix their diseases. For every conceivable ailment – real or not – chances are there's a pricey prescription drug to "treat" it. Chances are even better that their drug of choice comes chock full of side effects.

The problem is, prescription drugs don't treat diseases; they merely cover the symptoms. U.S. physicians provide allopathic health care – that is, they care for disease, not health. So, the over-prescription of drugs and medications is designed to treat disease instead of preventing it. And because there are so many drugs available, unforeseen adverse drug reactions are all too common, which leads to the highly conservative annual prescription drug death rate of 106,000. Keep in mind that these numbers came before the Vioxx scandal, and Cox-2 inhibitor drugs could ultimately end up killing tens of thousands more.

American medical patients are getting the short end of a rather raw deal when it comes to prescription drugs. Medicine is a high-dollar, highly competitive business. But it shouldn't be. Null's report cites the five most important aspects of health that modern medicine ignores in favor of the almighty dollar: Stress, lack of exercise, high calorie intake, highly processed foods and environmental toxin exposure. All these things are putting Americans in such poor health that they run to the doctor for treatment. But instead of doctors treating the causes of their poor health, such as putting them on a strict diet and exercise regimen, they stuff them full of prescription drugs to cover their symptoms. Using this inherently faulty system of medical treatment, it's no wonder so many Americans die from prescription drugs. They're not getting better; they're just popping drugs to make their symptoms temporarily go away.

But not all doctors subscribe to this method of "treatment." In fact, many doctors are just as angry as the public should be, charging that scientific medicine is "for sale" to the highest bidder – which, more often than not, end up being pharmaceutical companies. The pharmaceutical industry is a multi-trillion dollar business. Companies spend billions on advertising and promotions for prescription drugs. Who can remember the last time they watched television and weren't bombarded with ads for pills treating everything from erectile dysfunction to sleeplessness? And who has ever been to a doctor's office or hospital and not seen every pen, notepad and post-it bearing the logo of some prescription drug?

Medical experts claim that patients' requests for certain drugs have no effect on the number of prescriptions written for that drug. Pharmaceutical companies claim their drug ads are "educational" to the public. The public believes the FDA reviews all the ads and only allows the safest and most effective drug ads to reach the public. It's a clever system: Pharmaceutical companies influence the public to ask for prescription drugs, the public asks their physicians to prescribe them certain drugs, and doctors acquiesce to their patients' requests. Everyone's happy, right? Not quite, since the prescription drug death toll continues to rise.

The public seems to genuinely believe that drugs advertised on TV are safe, in spite of the plethora of side effects listed by the commercial's narrator, ranging from diarrhea to death. Patients feel justified in asking their physicians to prescribe them a particular drug they've seen on TV, since it surely must be safe or it wouldn't have been advertised. Remember all those TV ads heralding the wonders of Vioxx? One might wonder how many lives could have been spared if patients didn't see the ad on TV and request a prescription from their doctors.

But advertising isn't the only tool the pharmaceutical industry uses to influence medicine. Null's study cites an ABC report that said pharmaceutical companies spend over $2 billion sending doctors to more than 314,000 events every year. While doctors are riding the dollar of pharmaceutical companies, enjoying all the many perks of these "events," how likely are they to question the validity of drug companies or their products?

Admittedly, not all doctors reside in the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies. Some are downright angry at the situation, and angry on behalf of an unaware public. Major conflicts of interest exist between the American public, the medical community and the pharmaceutical industry. And although the public suffers the most from this conflict, it is the least informed. The public gets the short end of the stick and they don't even know it. That is why the pharmaceutical industry remains a multi-trillion dollar business.

Prescription drugs are only a part of the U.S. healthcare system's miserable failings. In fact, outpatient deaths, bedsore deaths and malnutrition deaths each account for higher death rates than adverse drug reactions. The problems run deep and cannot be remedied without drastic, widespread change in the system's money and ethics.

The first issue – money – is the main reason the medical industry cannot seem to change. Prescribing more drugs and recommending more surgeries means more profits. Getting more drugs approved by the FDA, regardless of their safety, means more money for the pharmaceutical industry. As the healthcare system stands today, physicians and drug companies can't seem to pass up earning loads of money, even if a few hundred thousand people lose their lives in the process. Even in drastic cases of deadly drugs, everyone involved has a scapegoat: Drug companies can blame the FDA for approving their product and the doctors for over-prescribing it, and doctors can blame the patients for wanting it and not properly weighing the risks.

What ultimately arises is a question of ethics. In layman's terms, ethics are the rules or moral guidelines that govern the conduct of people or professions. Some ethics are ingrained from childhood, but some are specifically set forth. For example, nearly all medical schools have their new doctors take a modern form of the Hippocratic Oath. While few versions are identical, none include setting aside proper medical care in favor of money-making practices.

On the research side of the issue, "Death by Medicine" cites an ABC report that says clinical trials funded by pharmaceutical companies show a 90 percent chance that a drug will be perceived as effective, whereas clinical trials not funded by drug companies show only a 50 percent chance that a drug will be perceived as effective. "It appears that money can’t buy you love, but it can buy you any 'scientific' result you want," writes Null and his team of researchers.

The government spends upwards of $30 billion a year on homeland security. Such spending seems important. Since 2001, 2,996 people in the United States have died from terrorism – all as a result of the 9/11 attacks. In that same period of time, 490,000 people have died from prescription drugs, not counting the Vioxx scandal. That means that prescription drugs in this country are at least 16,400 percent deadlier than terrorism. Again, those are the conservative numbers. A more realistic number, which would include deaths from over-the-counter drugs, makes drug consumption 32,000 percent deadlier than terrorism. But the scope of "Death by Medicine" is even wider. Conventional medicine, including unnecessary surgeries, bedsores and medical errors, is 104,700 percent deadlier than terrorism. Yet, our government's attention and money is not put into reforming health care.

Couldn't a little chunk of the homeland security money be better spent on overhauling the corrupt U.S. healthcare system, the leading cause of death in America? Couldn't we forfeit the color-coded threat system in favor of stricter guidelines on medical research and prescription drugs? No one is attempting to say that terrorism in the world is not a problem, especially for a high-profile country like the United States. No one is saying that the people who died on 9/11 didn't matter or weren't horribly wronged by the terrorists that day. But there are more dangerous things in the United States being falsely represented as safe and healthy, when, in reality, they are deadly. The corruption in the pharmaceutical industry and in America's healthcare system poses a far greater threat to the health, safety and welfare of Americans today than terrorism.

If the Bush Administration really wants to save lives — a lot of lives — it needs look no further than the chemical war has been declared on Americans by Big Pharma.

Embryos Created With DNA From 3 People

LONDON (AP) — British scientists say they have created human embryos containing DNA from two women and a man in a procedure that researchers hope might be used one day to produce embryos free of inherited diseases.

Though the preliminary research has raised concerns about the possibility of genetically modified babies, the scientists say that the embryos are still only primarily the product of one man and one woman.

"We are not trying to alter genes, we're just trying to swap a small proportion of the bad ones for some good ones," said Patrick Chinnery, a professor of neurogenetics at Newcastle University involved in the research.

The research was presented at a scientific conference recently, but has not been published in a scientific journal.

The process aims to create healthy embryos for couples to avoid passing on genes carrying diseases.

The genes being replaced are the mitochondria, a cell's energy source, which are contained outside the nucleus in a normal female egg. Mistakes in the mitochondria's genetic code can result in serious diseases like muscular dystrophy, epilepsy, strokes and mental retardation.

In their research, Chinnery and colleagues used normal embryos created from one man and one woman that had defective mitochondria in the woman's egg. They then transplanted that embryo into an emptied egg donated from a second woman who had healthy mitochondria.

The research is being funded by the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, a British charity.

Only trace amounts of a person's genes come from the mitochondria, and experts said it would be incorrect to say that the embryos have three parents.

"Most of the genes that make you who you are are inside the nucleus," Chinnery said. "We're not going anywhere near that."

So far, 10 such embryos have been created, though they have not been allowed to develop for more than five days. Chinnery hoped that after further experiments in the next few years the process might be available to parents undergoing in-vitro fertilization.

"If successful, this research could give families who might otherwise have a bleak future a chance to avoid some very grave diseases," said Francoise Shenfield, a fertility expert with the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology. Shenfield was not connected to the Newcastle University research.

Similar experiments have been conducted in animals in Japan, and has already led to the birth of healthy mice who had their mitochondria genes corrected.

Shenfield said that further tests to assess the safety and efficacy of the process were necessary before it could be offered as a potential treatment.

A bill to allow the procedure to be regulated as a therapy for couples — once it is proven to work — is expected to be discussed in Britain's House of Commons in March.

Economic Stimulus Concerns

This past week in Washington there has been much talk about the economy.  It seems by their actions the leadership and the Fed is finally willing to admit we have a problem, and we need to do something about the economic mess we are in.  This is a good thing.  However, they are still not being honest about the root cause of our impending crisis and want to deal only with symptoms, not the disease.
There are some positive aspects of the highly lauded economic stimulus package that has been negotiated.  I am in favor of taxpayers getting some of their money back, however temporary tax cuts and one-time rebates will not “fix” the economy.  What we desperately need right now is real deep significant tax cuts that are enabled by big spending cuts and reduction of government waste that is so rampant.  Unfortunately, too many in Washington still believe we can spend our way into prosperity, which does not work and never has.

Countries build wealth through robust economic environments, in which jobs are created and businesses can operate at a profit and grow.  When taxes bleed away profits and burdensome regulation hamstrings operations, our businesses and our jobs go overseas.  The United States must foster a competitive business environment once again.

There are a few ideas out there for economic stimulus that I do support, such as making permanent President Bush’s tax cuts.   I have also signed on as one of 49 original cosponsors of the Economic Growth Act of 2008 which will provide actual economic stimulus through private sector tax relief and job-creating business incentives.  This plan features

·Full immediate expensing for major business asset investments

·Reducing the top corporate tax rate from 35% to 25% to be aligned with average rates  in Europe

·Indexing the capital gains tax for inflation

·Cutting and simplifying the corporate capital gains rate

Enactment of these dramatic tax cuts will free up money so employers can start hiring again.  I would like for the unemployed to have the satisfaction of having a job again so the standard of living of the American family will go up.  And even more than a one-time miniscule rebate check, I want you to keep more of your own money in the first place.

Sending out checks and cutting interest rates yet again is merely a shot in the arm when in actuality, the economy needs major surgery.  I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to provide major tax relief to the American people.

Spousal Spats May Have Health Benefits

(WebMD) New research on marriage and health shows that married couples who express anger may outlive those who suppress anger.

The key is for both spouses to be comfortable expressing anger, rather than one or both suppressing anger, University of Michigan researchers report.

"The key matter is, when the conflict happens, how do you resolve it?" asks Ernest Harburg, PhD, professor emeritus with the University of Michigan's School of Public Health and psychology department. "If you bury your anger, and you brood on it … and you don't try to resolve the problem, then you're in trouble."

Harburg's team found a higher death rate among married couples in which both spouses suppress anger, compared with other married couples. Their findings appear in the Journal of Family Communication.

Expressing Anger

Harburg and colleagues studied 192 married couples in Michigan for 17 years, starting in 1971.

When the study started, the husbands and wives were 35-69 years old. They were asked to imagine being yelled at by their spouse or a policeman about something that wasn't their fault.

Each spouse answered questions about how he or she would handle that situation. They were considered to suppress their anger if they would do at least two of these things:
Not show their anger.

Not protest the verbal attack.

Feel guilty later on if they showed their anger.
In 14% of the couples, both spouses suppressed their anger. Their death rate was almost twice as high during the study, compared to other couples.

The findings held when age, smoking, weight, heart risks, and other factors were considered.

Still, the study has some limits. For instance, it's not clear if the findings would be similar in younger couples or in a more diverse study. And the researchers couldn't control for every possible influence; perhaps couples that express anger had other healthy traits.

Pet Turtles Cause Major Salmonella Outbreak

Friday, January 25, 2008
CDC reports that more than 100, most of them kids, have been stricken in 33 states
Jia-Rui Chong, Los Angeles Times

A strain of salmonella carried by small pet turtles has sickened more than 100 people and hospitalized at least 24 nationwide in the largest recorded outbreak of its kind, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Thursday.

Cases have been reported in 33 states, mostly in California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Illinois. Most of the patients have been children.

No one has died in the outbreak, which began in August. But some patients have suffered severe symptoms, including acute kidney failure. The most common symptoms reported to the CDC included bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, fever and vomiting.

The median age of patients was 7 1/2 years.

"With over 100 cases reported, that's fairly substantial," said Mark Sotir, a CDC epidemiologist in Atlanta. "For every case that's reported to the CDC, we estimate 30 or 40 sick people that haven't been reported."

Dr. Jonathan Fielding, Los Angeles County's public health director, said he has simple advice for parents thinking about buying a pet turtle: "Don't."

"If you have them, make sure you're washing your hands a lot after you're touching them," he said.

Salmonella bacteria are most often associated with food poisoning, but about 6 percent of infections come from contact with turtles. Turtles can carry a variety of salmonella without symptoms and shed them in their feces.

Small turtles have been particularly problematic because they are often bred in crowded conditions and are more likely to be given to children as pets. A 3-week-old baby girl in Florida died in 2007 from a different strain of salmonella carried by a mini turtle.

Since 1975, federal law has prohibited the sale of turtles with carapaces less than 4 inches as pets. But public health officials say enforcement is spotty.

The most recent outbreak was detected after two teenage girls were taken to different hospitals in North Carolina and South Carolina on the same day. The girls had been swimming together in an unchlorinated pool in which two pet turtles also were swimming.

A salmonella strain known as Paratyphi B variant Java was isolated from one of the girls and in the water of the turtles' habitat.

Of the 103 cases reported so far, nearly half of the patients remembered being exposed to a turtle, and many others were friends or relatives of turtle owners. Many of the patients reported feeding, kissing or playing with a turtle. In one case, a baby was bathed in a sink where turtle waste had been disposed of, the CDC said.

The turtles most often came from pet shops, but others were bought at flea markets or from street vendors. The CDC is investigating whether the outbreak can be traced to a common turtle distributor or farm.

Of the 12 cases reported by California, 11 came from Southern California.

God’s Hand of Destiny

There are key events in our lives that temper the core of what makes up who we are in the great scheme of life. Many of us have a sense of our place in God's Creation and know that his hand plays a central role in that greater destiny. Those who have not yet come to this realization are truly missing a great sense of purpose and usefulness that we all “need” to some degree. None of us are simply random lives and random events, …unless in our own spiritual blindness we have chosen to embrace such an uninspired philosophy. Benjamin Franklin stated at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, “ God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel”.

I have a firm sense of divine destiny and of God’s Hand in my life and in the lives of people around me in general. Most people, regrettably, have lost any sense of such a thing; pushing it into the realm of myths and fairy tales. Although as a generally very private man, I'm going a little out of character in this article in that I will reveal some of my personal life and a few small events that have inspired me in order to emphasize why my views are such that they are. I grew up poor in material things, but rich in love from my migrant worker/tenant cotton farmer parents. My father, Benjamin Weatherby Taylor turned to migrant farm work in the cotton fields of Northeast Texas, as did many other farmers, after losing his family homestead and farm to the banks and the ravages of The Great Depression and after his return from the second "Great War to End All Wars".

Almost a movie script rather than a scenario from real-life and a series of events that some might call Fate, but what I call God’s divine hand of destiny, my father met and married my mom, Georgia Laura Lucille Smith, the daughter of another East Texas farmer hard-hit by the Depression. That in itself isn’t unusual, but here’s “the rest of the story”. In those days, the Blackland Prairie, extending from north of Dallas to Central Texas east of Austin, was some of the most productive cotton country in the world as the Nation was struggling out of economic depression and the aftermath of World War II. Riding railcars to cotton harvesting areas, which was done in those days by hand using long canvass sacks, my Dad started following the cotton harvesting and met my Mom through her cousins who were also working in the cotton fields around Dallas. In fact, the very first memory of my life was of sitting under a cotton wagon watching both my parents in the field picking cotton and dragging one of those long canvass sacks.

The proof of divine destiny for me in the story of my parents was the fact that my father was one of the last people to see my mom’s youngest brother alive, although he didn’t know either him or her. My father, at that time Master Sergeant Taylor, had met a young soldier, 18 years old, from a group of fresh replacement troops on a battlefield of northeastern France and was unusually drawn to him enough to engage the “boy” in conversation. During their talk, the young man told my father his name was Jessie Smith from McKinney, Texas and that his family was also farmers.  The young soldier seemed largely unfazed by the circumstance of a Texas farm boy working in the cotton and corn fields one day to within weeks being thrust into the role of a warrior on the bloody battlefields of Europe. My father could see a hint of concern about the death that surrounded them, so he assured the boy that he would be home soon.

Little did my father know the prophetic nature of the words he spoke to that young soldier. The next day, another soldier in my father’s platoon came over to him after a particularly heated engagement with a German Panzer division trying to pierce the American lines. He told him that the kid he was talking to yesterday had been killed in battle. Jessie Smith had gone home much sooner than Sergeant Taylor had expected, but not to the fertile farmlands of Northeast Texas.

Seven years later, after my father was introduced to my mom by her cousins, "my grandmother, Anna Mae Smith" told him about the death of her youngest son, Jesse, in France and showed him the telegram from the War Department and the American flag sent to her by the Army. My dad 90 years old on December 4, 2007, never talked about the war until well into his eighties and never told my grandmother or my mother, who died in 1982, the story of the sergeant and the young soldier standing behind a hedgerow in France talking about being back in Texas.

One day 8 or 10 years ago, he told my brother and I the story, saying it was one he didn’t want to carry to his grave and giving us insight into how the hand of God’s destiny plays an often unseen role in the lives of mankind. Upon asking my dad why he had kept such an interesting story to himself, he told me, “That was a terrible time of bloodshed and horror and I didn’t want your mom and grandmother to relive it and I didn’t want to relive it neither; …no one would have believed it anyway.” I could see the regret in his eyes at not having shared such a surreal story with my mom, as he changed the subject to telling me about watching General Patton ride his jeep on the frontlines inspiring his soldiers to victory firing his pearl-handled pistols in the direction of the Nazi lines. But such is the fabric of life we all live, filled with both inspiration and regret.

As most of our readers already know, for the past three years, I have personally been on the frontlines of the war against Codex Alimentarius, which is an attempt to control health supplement use around the world via International Treaty. As anyone with any study or research in the matter knows, it is simply an attempted power grab by multi-national pharmaceutical companies (The Pharma-Industrial Complex as I have named it; a take-off on “the Military-Industrial Complex” President Eisenhower warned us about as he was leaving office.) using the force of government to stop the use of health supplements as a personal healthcare choice. These peddlers of tyranny and influence have corrupted, not only mainstream medicine, but the very government agencies supposedly set up to protect the interests of "We The People".

My involvement started when I was unceremoniously joined to an existing lawsuit simply because I bought some of the assets of a friend’s company which had been under suit. I had been told by my friend that his lawyers said that this languishing civil suit simply had nowhere to go and was essentially over. They were wrong. I believe “this state” smelled fresh blood and hoped that I wouldn’t hire one of the top law firms in Texas to represent me, as my friend had done. I didn’t, but they have gotten more than they bargained for from a country boy with little more than a high school education. Instead, they found a “Man endowed by his Creator with certain unalienable Rights” who will stand and fight on principle alone with no fear and no concern for the consequences. I use no lawyers or attorneys; I simply go into the courtroom by special appearance “in propria persona” (in my own proper person) and stand on my God-given unalienable Rights as secured by Organic Law.  To do otherwise would be a lie and would essentially accept the jurisdiction of those corrupted agencies and would also relinquish my Rights by virtue of presumption and tacit assent.

I have fought these powerful and corrupted “government” agencies and their team of “doctors of jurisprudence” to a standstill for three years without hiring any representation in the courtroom. Be assured, it isn’t my own superior intellect; it is simply standing on the truth against an “untruthful system along with studying the government’s own “court procedures”, the statutes and so-called regulations they purport to be suing us under, and most of all, by understanding our Rights secured by the Constitutions of The State of Texas and The United States of America. They often don’t follow their own “rules and procedures” and only give lip service to those Constitutions, which IS “The Supreme Law of The Land”.

Just a note here for those who do not know this fact; these Constitutions/Organic Laws do not give our Rights to us; those Rights are given by God. To Wit: “We are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable Rights, among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”- no equivocations, no ifs, ands or buts. These Constitutions are designed for the purpose of securing our Rights by placing shackles on “government” who would totally ignore the Rights of the People if left unfettered. Sadly, that is pretty much what they do, operating with impunity, deceit and trickery, using “terms of art” and procedures that the average man does not understand.

I am acutely aware that I’m there defending, not only myself and Utopia Silver, but the Rights of all Americans to choose our means of healthcare, our Right to take supplements without a doctor’s or the "government’s” consent, as well as our “Freedom of Speech Rights”. This case in a Texas State District civil court in Austin, Texas has been called “The Test Case” by Texas Attorney General prosecutors in one of our many judges chamber meetings, where the judge has attempted to broker an end to the lawsuit. In a nutshell, the issue is whether or not manufacturers and sellers of various supplements and/or their customers may exercise their "Right of Free Speech" in customer testimonials and comments, the citing of research, studies, and historical facts concerning the benefits of dietary supplements.

It is the “government” position that if you manufacture or sell a supplement or food and speak or write of any benefit, that supplement or food magically becomes a “new drug” and is subject to regulation as a drug. I was told face to face by the assistant Attorney General, in a meeting after things were moved from view of witnesses/court watchers in the courtroom that if I sold water and told of any benefits that they would consider it a drug! So in their minds and by “their rules”, nothing we consume has any mentionable benefit except “drugs”. This is truly the world of Oz and M.C. Escher. All I can say to that is, "That ain't my America my friend and it will be a cold day in the center of the Earth before I buy such a lie." As Winston Churchill once stated, "This is nonsense, up with which I shall not put."

I’m giving this synopsis of that civil court battle, because it has been overpowering evidence in my own life of God’s Divine Hand of Destiny. I and a few others have resolved to commit ourselves and our livelihoods to this all important battle to preserve some small piece of what is left of the “Land of the Brave and Home of the Free” that we inherited from our grandfathers and grandmothers. They may eventually win this one small skirmish simply by force and unlimited funds, but they will know they have been fighting with a worthy opponent …and guess what? They will ultimately loose this war, …of that I have no doubt.

I have because of these three years of tough (But exhilarating when you’re doing the Lord’s work and fighting for your country and winning.) legal battles, been required to be so objectively and coldly analytical of everything that happens around me, that it is difficult to know when to turn it on and when to turn it off. I even understand and have some empathy for anyone who spends their lives in a courtroom setting; you can easily end up losing your soul in this legal process that for many becomes little more than a “game to win" at all costs, even when one begins to have some sense of being “on the wrong side”. I see that in the eyes of my opponents every time I go to court. Some have obviously sold their soul, but others are good men who now understand the truth and can barely look me in the eyes. For one defending themselves against formidable adversaries, it becomes a survival instinct, much as an antelope might experience on the plains with an unseen lion constantly on the prowl in the tall grasses nearby. If that antelope for one second relaxes his guard, he could become the lion's next meal. After witnessing the extent that people in our own “government” will go to obtain a prosecution “win” through trickery, deceit and lying, one becomes instinctively wary of any situation and anyone they meet.

This system is one of intimidation and fear and I was actually told in one of our judges chamber meetings by a (probably honorable) man in the hierarchy of the “court system” that, “This system operates on fear, but you show no fear and that is a problem for us.” He was right, but it is nothing I can take credit for; that kind of fearlessness comes from knowing that the Lord is on our side in this battle of dealing with a system corrupted by the love of money/power. I have had to stand face to face against threats, intimidation, and deceit from prosecutors and judges, and by necessity having to analyze every word and “term of art”, every act, every expression, not to mention the cunning tricks used to presume and claim a jurisdiction that does not exist. The authority and jurisdiction they claim simply does not exist under “The Supreme Law of The Land”, except in some situations in which you may enter into an “agreement” knowingly, willingly, and voluntarily with full disclosure.

BUT, even that right kind of fearlessness in such a situation coupled with having to analyze everything happening around you can also translate into unintended callousness if allowed to carry over into other areas of life. If not controlled, it can cause us to walk “where angels fear to tread” and I know it is not the road I want to travel in my personal life. Sometimes, in becoming fearless in an arena of lions and warriors, one can become heartless in the arena of life where there still exists kind and gentle people who deserve no less that just that in return. There is a proper time and place to do battle, but there is also a time for the warrior to lay down that shield and to rest that spear in the corner. It brings to mind, verses in the Bible as stated, in part, in Ecclesiastes 3:

To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to harvest;

A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;

A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;

A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;

A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

Even things that are necessary and appropriate in their proper time and place become unnecessary and inappropriate in an improper place at an improper time. Basic survival instincts can affect our interaction with others and it is simply folly to live our life in distrust of everyone and everything around us. In allowing such instincts to rule us, we can inadvertently hurt the innocent among us. It isn’t healthy, it isn’t spiritually uplifting, and it will simply cost us dearly in the loss of special people who should be destined to be a valued part of our lives.

This brings to mind one of my favorite quotes by John Hancock: “In circumstances as dark as these, it becomes us, as Men and Christians, to reflect that whilst every prudent measure should be taken to ward off the impending judgments, …at the same time all confidence must be withheld from the means we use; and reposed only on that God rules in the armies of Heaven, and without His whole blessing, the best human counsels are but foolishness… Resolved; …Thursday the 11th of May…to humble themselves before God under the heavy judgments felt and feared, to confess the sins that have deserved them, to implore the Forgiveness of all our transgressions, and a spirit of repentance and reformation …and a Blessing on the … Union of the American Colonies in Defense of their Rights [for which hitherto we desire to thank Almighty God]…That the people of Great Britain and their rulers may have their eyes opened to discern the things that shall make for the peace of the nation…for the redress of America’s many grievances, the restoration of all her invaded liberties, and their security to the latest generations."
"A Day of Fasting, Humiliation and Prayer, with a total abstinence from labor and recreation. Proclamation on April 15, 1775"

I have great admiration for those who choose to live in the positive- not meaning that the harsh realities of life cannot be noted, understood, and planned for- but that there is a good and greater purpose to everything that happens in our life, even the bad, if we simply permit God’s Divine Hand of Destiny to have some small place in our lives.
